Obituary

Alvin Charles Barnett, (Al), passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024, at White Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Woodbury, NY. Al was born April 18, 1941, in Brooklyn, NY to mother Elsie and father Charles Barnett. Al was a graduate of Brooklyn College and proudly served in the US Army. He married Arlene Nemoga on October 26, 1964, and they lived in Massapequa, NY, where they raised their family. Al worked for the US Customs Department of Homeland Security for over forty years. He loved his country and was dedicated to his service. Al was an enthusiastic fan of his favorite sports teams, the Giants, Islanders and especially the Brooklyn Dodgers. As a child he would often ride his bike to Ebbett’s Field to watch the team he loved. Al also had a love for all animals, big and small, and was devoted to his pets. Al is survived by his wife Arlene, his daughters, Patricia and Kathleen, sons-in-laws, Robert and Nicholas, and grandchildren, Noah, Zachary, Nicholas, and Michael. He loved his family deeply and will be missed by all those he touched. In lieu of flowers Al’s family suggest donations to Wounded Warriors or Tunnel to Towers.
