Obituary
Florence (Febronia) D’Angelo, age 97, passed of natural causes on November 27, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph D’Angelo and son, Anthony D’Angelo. She is survived by three children— Rosalie Carr (Randy), Jeannette Petry (James), Victor D’Angelo (Mary Beth) and daughter-in-law Elaine D’Angelo, twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Florence was born in Palagonia, Sicily in 1926. She wed Joseph D’Angelo of Brooklyn, NY on April 3, 1948, then traveled to America. Later they moved to Bethpage where she raised her four children and cared endlessly for her husband and extended family. Summers were spent traveling on their boat, the Rosa D’Oro. They were members of the Tobay Yacht Club where they made lifelong friends. For many years, she and Joseph hosted their legendary New Year’s Eve parties. Cooking for family and friends was her passion, no matter the occasion. She & Joseph also loved to travel together. Whether around the world or to Atlantic City, it was always an adventure.
.
Her kitchen table was the epicenter of the family. She regularly hosted Sunday dinners, cooking enough sauce and pastina soup to feed an army. She never faltered in her love and support for those around her, yet she was tough when she had to be. She doted on her grandchildren and especially loved the time she had with her six great grandchildren.
She was the matriarch of the D’Angelo family. We will always cherish the memories and will continue her traditions of cooking and generosity for years to come.
