Obituary
Florence (Febronia) D’Angelo, age 97, passed of natural causes on November 27, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph D’Angelo and son, Anthony D’Angelo. She is survived by three children— Rosalie Carr (Randy), Jeannette Petry (James), Victor D’Angelo (Mary Beth) and daughter-in-law Elaine D’Angelo, twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Florence was born in Palagonia, Sicily in 1926. She wed Joseph D’Angelo of Brooklyn, NY on April 3, 1948, then traveled to America. Later they moved to Bethpage where she raised her four children and cared endlessly for her husband and extended family. Summers were spent traveling on their boat, the Rosa D’Oro. They were members of the Tobay Yacht Club where they made lifelong friends. For many years, she and Joseph hosted their legendary New Year’s Eve parties. Cooking for family and friends was her passion, no matter the occasion. She & Joseph also loved to travel together. Whether around the world or to Atlantic City, it was always an adventure.
.
Her kitchen table was the epicenter of the family. She regularly hosted Sunday dinners, cooking enough sauce and pastina soup to feed an army. She never faltered in her love and support for those around her, yet she was tough when she had to be. She doted on her grandchildren and especially loved the time she had with her six great grandchildren.
She was the matriarch of the D’Angelo family. We will always cherish the memories and will continue her traditions of cooking and generosity for years to come.

My deepest condolences to my dear cousins, Rosalie and Randy, Jeanette& Jimmy, Victor, and Marybeth and Elaine along with their whole family. I wanted to say how special my aunt Florence was to me and who ever she Touch in her life she was kind and generous her Home was always open to all like a revolving door, You were welcomed in there all hours of the day, accepted everyone and before you knew it, you were seated at her huge table with a plate in front of you. That was my aunt, she was very stern and you knew if she was angry, with that you never wanted to disappoint her . I am very grateful to her and appreciative , because of uncle Joe and my aunt Florence bringing me and my family here in America. I will never forget my homeland Sicily beautiful it is and I’m sure I would’ve had a beautiful life there too, but we were introduced to America, and as my Aunt Florence would always say, God bless America this is the best country in the world. Therefore, I believe that we are here because of my uncle Joe and my aunt Florence and God blessing us. I am deeply honored to have such a beautiful family. We all are united and pull together, especially when most needed although we all live far away in times of need, we come together and that’s what families about and that’s what my aunt has taught us all she was the matriarch of the family. My wish is that she goes and meet up with all her beautiful family Love you Aunt Florence say hello and a kiss to my papa❤️ who I know you love dearly always calling him my baby brother❤️
