Obituary
Marianne Holohan led a magnificent life, overflowing with laughter, love, and countless trips to the beach. Her 70 years were devoted to selfless care for others, especially her sister, Michelle, who has Down Syndrome. She married her soulmate, Dan Holohan, nearly 50 beautiful years ago. They traveled hand-in-hand through life’s ups and downs, often leaving love notes to one another on Post-its. Together they wrote a love story and built a thriving business, as well as Team Holohan which consisted of four daughters, Kelly, Meghan, and twins Colleen, and Erin, born within four years. She taught them the art of multitasking and always sent them to school with impeccable hairstyles adorned with bows. She loved fiercely and valued time together, especially at the holidays when she took great care in choosing presents that she “got a good deal on” and preparing delicious meals. The dinner table expanded to include sons-in-law Craig, John, Adam, and Andrew, and grandchildren, Sully, Dempsey, Ava, Brendan, Quinn, and Bridget. Marianne’s laughter filled the room as she played Old Maid with her grandkids and she made sure they’d have matching outfits for family photos. They loved one another to the moon and back. She was a caring sister and best friend, always available for thoughtful advice over a cup of tea or a 9 PM chat on the phone. Marianne will be desperately missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. We will toast to her with her favorite glass of Pinot Grigio as we share fond memories of this remarkable woman.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Nassau County AHRC Foundation. AHRC Nassau provides an array of support services and programs to children and adults with developmental disabilities, including Marianne’s sister Michelle.
