Obituary
Marianne Holohan led a magnificent life, overflowing with laughter, love, and countless trips to the beach. Her 70 years were devoted to selfless care for others, especially her sister, Michelle, who has Down Syndrome. She married her soulmate, Dan Holohan, nearly 50 beautiful years ago. They traveled hand-in-hand through life’s ups and downs, often leaving love notes to one another on Post-its. Together they wrote a love story and built a thriving business, as well as Team Holohan which consisted of four daughters, Kelly, Meghan, and twins Colleen, and Erin, born within four years. She taught them the art of multitasking and always sent them to school with impeccable hairstyles adorned with bows. She loved fiercely and valued time together, especially at the holidays when she took great care in choosing presents that she “got a good deal on” and preparing delicious meals. The dinner table expanded to include sons-in-law Craig, John, Adam, and Andrew, and grandchildren, Sully, Dempsey, Ava, Brendan, Quinn, and Bridget. Marianne’s laughter filled the room as she played Old Maid with her grandkids and she made sure they’d have matching outfits for family photos. They loved one another to the moon and back. She was a caring sister and best friend, always available for thoughtful advice over a cup of tea or a 9 PM chat on the phone. Marianne will be desperately missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. We will toast to her with her favorite glass of Pinot Grigio as we share fond memories of this remarkable woman.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Nassau County AHRC Foundation. AHRC Nassau provides an array of support services and programs to children and adults with developmental disabilities, including Marianne’s sister Michelle.

Oh, no!
I was so saddened to hear of Marianne's passing. I just lost my own wife, lover and soulmate of 39 years 23 Feb '21 and am still finding my way through this strange afterlife, so I know exactly how you feel, Dan. It's like we grow together like a twin-trunked tree and when that trunk splits off....... Well, we have to carry on and keep growing because SHE would have wanted it that way, so I can only wish you strength, and the hope that her gentle touch will keep you going as you go through the days to come.
It's a sad but true fact that Life is not a potato-sack race, as couples almost never reach the finish line at the same time, but we must play the hand we're dealt with, and we both were dealt a very, very rich and wonderful hand.
God bless and keep you, Dan. - John C. Kovalo, Heating Specialties, retired

To Dan and Family.
I was stunned to hear this sad news! I had the the pleasure of meeting The Lovely Marianne on a number of occasions as she presided over Dan's domain but feel that l really got to know her through his writings. I have always been of the opinion that the true talent was she and that Dan merely channeled her energies throughout the years :)
I would like to offer the following words which appeared in The Gazette back in the day and which most likely, would never have been written had it not been for The Lovely Marianne's existence!
A Whispered Prayer
When those we love achieve their place
in Heaven’s bower, by God’s good grace.
Our hearts bemoan a loss so great;
an absence we daren’t contemplate.
The gifts bestowed throughout the years.
That gentle touch to soften tears.
Words of counsel, ever wise,
to help us see through clouded eyes.
Life on earth is a whispered prayer;
those with hope need not despair.
The joy of everlasting love
awaits us when we meet above.

It is with great sadness that I write this tribute to Dan's (the) Lovely Marianne. She certainly was a special lady. Full of life, full of love, full of laughter... and we sure shared a lot of laughs together. So it goes without saying, that she will be greatly missed by her family and friends; and this world is a sadder place without her.
May it give you comfort, Dan and girls, knowing that she now rests in the loving arms of our Beloved Savior.
