So sorry we can’t be there but offer our condolences to all of my Aunt Trudy’s loved ones-those who will be there and those who can’t. Growing up, every time I saw Aunt Trudy I learned something I have never forgotten. Most were recipes or little cooking tips. Some were what I thought at the time were cute Aunt Trudy quirks, but which today would be considered recycling or minimizing your carbon footprint! She was always caring and gracious and I will miss her. Lynne

It was always with great excitement and anticipation that we met for birthdays, Christmas and other family gatherings in Babylon or Lake George. Many memories of Aunt Trudy with her warmth and wry sense of humor. I have her fabulous birthday cake recipe which is still a favorite after all the years.

There is no simpler form of communication than a kiss. Whether it is a peck on the cheek, a buss on the forehead, or a smooch on the lips, you say in just a second how devoted you are to another living soul.
My lovely grandmother, Gertrude Cecilia Thunberg (nee Winter) passed away today, five days shy of her 97th birthday. Even as she had trouble communicating in the last few days, she always made an effort for a kiss. "Can I get a kiss, Grandma?" and all her energy, heart and soul, went into pursing her lips. I hope those last few kisses we shared meant half as much to her as they did for me.
So, I hope one of her lasting legacies is that you never forget that kiss to someone you love. It doesn't have to be with your lips. Let it be a wink, or a nod, or even a quick smile - they all will convey that kiss of love. That fleeting moment will be remembered for a lifetime.
I will always love you Grandma and I will never forget to give you a kiss from time to time.

The Good Shepherd has set out on her last voyage. My Aunt Trudy, really my grandmother, came to this country speaking no English and brought forth in love and hope a great family, who grew and loved in turn under her care and guidance. She has now passed, days shy of her 97th birthday, surrounded by the family and love she had nurtured. R.I.P., Aunt Trudy, we shall not see your like again.
