Simply beautiful Carol Ann....you hit the nail on the head...Stephen was one of the most genuine people I knew.
I have ao many memories of the good old days that I will treasure forever..
I will miss his posts of surfing videos, his humorous messages and all the updates of how well or not so well he did through his many surgeries....
He always kept that sence of humor to make all of us feel good
May you rest in peace my dear friend...you are in some amazing company in heaven...You will be forever missed.

I am truly so sorry for your loss. Stephen and Rick were both dear friends of mine growing up. The great bond that formed first at St Marys and beyond. I knew of Stephens courage and resilience that he grew up with. I had to be his eyes several times while surfing on very hazy or foggy days. We always had a blast together. I went to Florida Institute a year after Rick, which was a disappointment that we missed each other. The great times rocking out in their bedroom with them playing, great memories. My heart is truly saddened for the loos of a great lifelong friend who had been blessed to have two great parents to instilled great values.
I am truly sorry for your loss

Our beloved Stephen was a suffering servant of Christ. He told me once, "...fighting cancer is a full time job, as well as fighting the additional malady that spring forth from it." I replied that he is an inspiration to so many of us. He said, "Ahhh, not me. There are plenty of others who are shining examples, not me, I'm just plain old Steve." Well, there was certainly nothing "plain" about "Crazy Cousin Steve" as he often referred to himself. He possessed an innate curiosity and inquisitive mind searching for answers to the plethora of questions life's opportunities present. Now, he has the answers to those questions. I shall always recall his infectious laugh, his smile, and his vitality and zest for the adventure, and any outing with him, was certainly an adventure. Ah, the stories...So many chapters in the tome of his earthly life. Steve was one of my most favorite people, a close cousin and friend who always offered words of encouragement. He never lost his wonder and awe for life, and to me, a great inspiration. I am so sorry for your loss, our loss, which is heaven's gain, but a priest once told me, those who die are as close to us as Christ Himself. I wish I could be there today and tomorrow, but please know, all of us in Florida will be there in spirit. I love you! "Pray for me and I shall pray for you that one day we meet merrily in heaven." (St Thomas More). St. Stephen Mark Jude Schaedtler, pray for us.

I do not know where to begin. You lost your brother and I lost mine ! But We began a friendship before then. June 3rd 1999 and June 3rd 2004 seemed to seal a friendship that began before we both lost our brothers. You became my other brother and I loved you ! I feel such a loss and I pray that you are with our families ! I will be waiting for all the signs that I expect you to send! I pray that you are all happy and enjoying each others company as I have enjoyed yours for so many years! RIP Steve, you have endured more pain than anyone should. Let go and let God ! Love you , please watch over your sister now more than ever. She will always need you !

We remember Steve telling us about a wreath or flowers put into the water for Rick, which kept coming back to shore...and of Steve finding a rose in the water on a different trip to the beach...so touching and we will all miss LazloSurf. Keep watching the waves...love and prayers to each of you

Dear Mr. and Mrs. S, CA, Tom, Ryan & Family - I was so saddened to hear of Steve’s passing. I know he struggled long and hard with his illness and that it was so difficult for you all to know and watch. My family has been through similar situations so I know what you all are going through ans my thoughts and prayers are ans have been with you. If I could be on LI for the service, I would have come by to pay my respects, but I send love and prayers from Minnesota. Steve was a good guy and I will always remember him fondly. How happy he must be, back with his brother! Love to you all - Angela

I only had the pleasure of knowing Steve through PrayerPals on FB...he was such a treasured part of our prayer group...& I have a feeling he will continue to be an integral part, please God.
I know his heart would have kept beating for you all, he had no intention of leaving, however Our Dear Lord called him home to join all your crew, & most especially Your Rick...
He is safe, he is happy and he is whole once again.
Look for the signs ;) especially the ones that’ll make you laugh...
Godbless you all.
Xoxo Michelle & all the PrayerPals.

I am deeply saddened by the loss of your son and my good friend. Stephen and I were fellow attorneys that worked on several cases together over a period of 25+ years. He was a special person always willing to lend a hand and help others. We shared many a laugh together and one day we will do so again. I will miss him very much, but I know your loss is much deeper. He used to say that I was like a brother to him and those words still resonate in me. I know Stephen has found peace, and I offer my deepest sympathies and condolences to the Schaedtler family on the loss of a good man and most of all a good friend.
God Bless You Steve !
