Obituary of Martha W. FitzGerald

FitzGerald, Martha Winter, age 93, died September 1, 2017 after a brief illness.  Martha was a Freeport native and resided in Oak Beach, NY.  She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas J. FitzGerald, former NYRA President, and is survived by her loving children, Peggy, Mollie, Peter, Susan and Tom, along with their spouses, Mark and Mary, and three beautiful granddaughters, Mary, Katie and Claire.  Martha was an active member and former President of the Athena Club of Freeport and had volunteered at Good Samaritan Hospital for over 30 years, primarily in emergency services.  She was well known for the cuddly, wool kitties she made in her spare time for pediatric and other patients who needed comfort.  Martha had traveled extensively with her husband and friends, and loved to participate in community activities.  Her ready smile and upbeat personality will be missed by all who knew her.
