Dear Regina and family,
It was with great sadness to hear of Dr. Collins passing.
Having worked in his office for a brief period of time I came to know him as a wonderful person.
It was pleasure to hear his patient's talk very favorably about him.
He will be missed by all of us.
Sincerely, Gene and Judy Racanelli

I have been so lucky to have had the privilege of being your patient for over 20 years. From the minute I met you I saw something special about you. I trusted you and your compassion and dedication over the years was beyond overwhelming. I will never forget our many talks about Boston as I was also born and raised in Boston. I will never forget your kindness. You will be missed. There will never be another Doctor like you. You were the best of the best. My condolences to the family.

I am still in a state of shock as the office notified me of Dr. Collins passing. I was due to see him in a few weeks for follow up of an eye condition that he detected while examining me on late notice over 10 years ago. Since then, I've driven over 50 miles to make appointments to see him simply because he was THAT good a physician, mentor, and person. Thank you Dr. Collins for all your encouragement and insight over the past 10 years. You will be missed! My condolences to your family.

Rick, myself , and our entire family want to express our sincere condolences on the passing of Jimmy. Through many occasions celebrated together with Mark and Maryellen we had the privilege to get to know Jimmy and felt completely at ease in his company. With his contagious smile and warm mannerisms it wasn't difficult in the least to have a meaningful conversation about any topic at all with Jimmy...there was a wonderful ease about him. We will miss him at all the Fetkowitz celebrations going forward and will keep his memory alive through all the stories from Mark and Maryellen and their family. With sympathy, Amy and Rick

I am truly heartbroken hearing the loss of:
Dr James Collins
Saw him last this past January, scheduled to see him this past week and my appointment was cancelled that he was on medical leave.
Started with Dr Collins Fall of 1981 with my daughter who was then diagnosed with a rare eye disease ... Dr Collins was then in a small office across the street from Good Samaritan Hospital. He saw her everyday for the first 30 days and conferred with a doctor in Manhattan. She pulled through nicely and all is well with her beautiful blue eyes ...
February 1, 2006, I took a bad fall in Babylon Village breaking the bone that holds my right eye in place. Dr Collins sent me to an eye surgeon at Stony Brook who put a titanium plate in to hold the eye in place. But soon after that, shingles set in my left eye ... a horrific ordeal it was .. Dr Collins made himself available to me everyday that I saw him in his office ... giving me his cell # in case of anything ... which I did call him on a Sunday, Father's Day ... he was then living in the city, did not hesitate, said for me to meet him in his office ... he drove to the office and opened it and treated my eye ... His patients were always first.
Truly truly sorry to hear this.
My deepest deepest sympathy to his wife & children & family.
Indeed taken too soon.

It is with a very heavy heart that I express my deepest sympathy for the family of Dr. James Collins. I have been a patient of Dr. Collins since approx 1987. From the day we met, I knew he was the best Dr. I could find. Through the years I have been awestruck by Dr. Collins on so many levels, from his medical abilities.., to his constant adjustment of spaces within his office..., his time management ..., and his humble, genuine, engaging spirit. Despite the years I have known him, he remained private but dedicated to his patients.
They say so much can be seen through a persons eyes...and Dr. Collins detected through my eyes, certain issues that all my other doctors had / have missed. I only hope he was also able to see my heart....filled with respect and admiration, and a desire to emulate his many attributes. For many of us lucky to have had Dr. Collins looking into our eyes, he will be greatly missed, but his greatness and spirit will forever be with us. God Bless.
Sincerely,
John J. Kelly and Family
