Obituary of Martha V. Guthlein

Martha V. Guthlein (Nee: Rooney) passed away on March 31, 2017 at the Westhampton Care Center in Westhampton, NY. She was 92 years old. Born in New York City, she has been a resident of Bay Shore for over 50 years. A homemaker, Martha had been active in her church, St. Patrick’s RC Church of Bay Shore. She had been a member of the Catholic Daughters, and served for many years as a Euchuristic Minister at masses and also visiting parishioners at home. Predeceased by her husband, the late Harold J. Guthlein and a son in law, Gary Zippelius, she is survived by two daughter, Jean Zippelius of Bay Shore and daughter & son in law Susan & John Dobrie of East Moriches, NY, and two sons and daughters in law, Thomas & Cathy Guthlein of Ridge, NY and Jerry & Cathy Guthlein of Milltown, NJ. Also survived by nine grandchildren, Bonnie James, Peter Zippelius, Thomas Guthlein, Christine Guthlein, Daniel Dobrie, John Dobrie, Catherine Chamberlain, Teresa Sajkowski & James Guthlein. Also survived by 19 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Monday, April 3rd 2-4:00 pm & 7-9:00 pm at the Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons Funeral Home 1225 Montauk Hwy. West Islip, NY. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Patrick’s RC Church in Bay Shore at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 4th. Interment, Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, NY. Memorial contributions in Martha’s memory to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
