Helga Richert age 94, of Bethpage, New York passed away on October 31, 2024. Born in Katzweiller, Germany, she was the daughter of Hugo and Emma Hess and was raised by her grandparents. After World War II her aunt sponsored her and she came to the United States. She frequently visited her aunt at Greenwood Lake in New Jersey where she met her husband, Alfred Richert. They were married in January 1956 and bought a house in Bethpage, New York, which is where she lived and raised her family. She was well known for making German dishes and making all the side dishes for the family gatherings. She loved to be outside working in the yard and could be seen on the roof if she needed to clean the gutters. Her great love was her husband and her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Richert. She is survived by her daughter Kirsten Duprez, son-in-law Fred Duprez, son Arthur Richert, daughter-in-law Debra Richert, daughter Suzanne Oehler, grandson Michael Duprez and his wife Samantha Duprez, granddaughter Courtney Hebert and her husband Eric Hebert, grandson Stephen Duprez and his wife Christine Duprez, granddaughter Melanie Archer and her husband Richard Archer and her great grandchildren Nathan Duprez, Brooke Duprez, Jackson Duprez, Jace Duprez and Vivienne Hebert. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Christ Lutheran Church 3384 Island Rd, Wantagh, NY 11793.
