Obituary
Paul Rossi, a man of unwavering strength and resilience, passed away at the age of 93 on September 24, 2024, just two months shy of his 94th birthday. His beloved wife, Antonia, had preceded him in death. His legacy lives on through his devoted children, daughter Vitina and husband Alex, daughter Pattiann and husband Joey, and son John and his wife Christine. Paul leaves behind eight cherished grandchildren and welcomed his 12th great-grandchild, Vincent, on September 20, 2024.
Born during the Great Depression, Paul embodied the timeless virtues of hard work, frugality, devotion to God and country, and unwavering commitment to his family. While working as a dedicated letter carrier for most of his life, Paul also took on various part-time jobs, including driving a New York City taxi. He was actively involved in his community, serving as a past exalted ruler of the Valley Stream Elks and later becoming involved with the American Legion. His commitment to honoring U.S. soldiers was evident in his tradition of placing American flags on their graves at Calverton Cemetery. Although Paul never actively served in the military, he was honorably discharged from the Marines following an injury sustained during boot camp. Had he not been injured, he would have served his country in Korea.
Living a simple life, Paul never forgot his humble beginnings, his profound impact is reflected in the values and morals he instilled in his children, who have faithfully passed them down through the generations, reaching his great-grandchildren. As we bid farewell to Paul, we find solace in knowing that he has reunited with his beloved wife in the embrace of heaven.
Dad, I suppose “that's life;" your memory will be cherished always, goodbye for now.
