RIP my old friend, Pat, Don Murphy, Joe Catania and I were inseparable in HS we ate together every lunch and spent many a Friday night playing basketball ball in our HS gym. Pat was a great friend with a quick wit and smile. A loyal friend as I have ever had. After HS we parted ways until our 30th reunion and it felt like we never missed a beat.
This year I sensed something was a miss when his Christmas Card didnt arrive. Pat you are in my heart and prayers.
Love Joe Morgese Class of 1971

Hi all. I am Bob McCarthy, one of Pat’s cousin’s from the West Coast. There are three of us, the son’s of Mary Byrne McCarthy, Pat’s father’s sister.
I first met Pat in the early ‘80s, the first time I visited NY and met the Byrne side of my family. I was staying at Margaret’s and Pat came by one morning to give me his custom-imagined tour of NY. We started out with a few museums. After he gauged the level of my interest in arts and history, he altered our itinerary and we headed to 15 E 7th Street. McSorley’s Old Ale House had the perfect blend of history, culture and cuisine to fit my interests. That was the beginning of a fun-filled relationship. My wife, Maria, and I often visited NY, and always made it a priority to put visits with Pat and Margaret at the top of our lists. In the last several years Pat and I talked about every 6-8 weeks. In addition to updating each other on our activities, there was an inordinate and welcome amount of laughing, usually in response to Pat’s story-telling. I don’t think I know anyone who wrung every bit of joy out of the life he lived. Pat is certainly in a better place; but the world has lost a true gentleman, one who made my life brighter.
