Obituary
We announce with deep sorrow the passing of Ingrid Hubbard (nee Vobelt), a treasured mother, grandmother, and wife, who left us on May 1, 2024. Born in 1935 in Hamburg, Germany, Ingrid was a symbol of strength and resilience.
In 1953, Ingrid chaperoned her brother Rolf to America. Her journey was initially intended as a temporary stay, but destiny had other plans when she crossed paths with her future mother-in-law on Main Street in Bay Shore, NY. Their chance meeting led to her eventual marriage to Kenneth Carl Hubbard on August 5, 1962. Their marriage resulted in three children, Marie, Lori, Kenneth A, and four grandchildren, Shannon, Ryan, Emily, and Shelby.
She often said how lucky she was to have found their home in Brightwaters and to live near the water and have many wonderful parks nearby. Ingrid loved taking walks, watching the birds, greeting dogs, gardening, and watching her flowers grow. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with family, sitting on the porch or patio, reading books, playing games, and sipping a glass of wine.
Ingrid is survived by her husband, Kenneth, and preceded in death by her brother, Rolf Vobelt, and sister, Martha Lang.
Her passing is a significant loss to her loved ones and those that knew her. A Funeral Mass will be held in her honor on Monday, May 6, 2024, at St. Patrick's R.C. Church, located at 9 North Clinton Ave, Bay Shore, NY. Following the service, Ingrid will be laid to rest at Calverton National Cemetery, Route 25, Calverton, NY.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Bayard Cutting Arboretum in Great River, NY, in memory of Ingrid Hubbard. Her love for nature and the outdoors was a defining aspect of her life, and your contributions will help keep her memory alive.
Ingrid's life was a testament to her strength, love, and commitment to her family. She will be deeply missed.
