Obituary

Raymond Caluori (Ray), 85 of Farmingdale, New York passed away on March 20th, 2024. Only child of Ceasar and Vera Caluori, Ray was born on November 5th, 1938, in Rochester New York. He moved to Brooklyn, New York where he attended La Fayette High School. Ray graduated in 1957 from Parks College of St Louis University in Saint Louis Missouri. After earning a degree in accounting, he went to work at Pan American Airlines where he enjoyed a successful 33-year career. In 1958, Ray met Elaine DeOre in New Rochelle, New York. They married soon after, and briefly lived in the Bronx and Queens. They settled in Uniondale, New York where they spent the next 30 years lovingly raising their four sons. Ray and Elaine enjoyed traveling with their family, especially camping trips up and down the east coast and vacations to Disney World. They enjoyed a successful, loving marriage, and recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. In 1968, Ray joined the Robert W. Powell Council, Knights of Columbus in Uniondale. He served as their Grand Knight and was still an active member at the time of his death. Ray also dedicated countless hours to the Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County, leading many fundraising events throughout the years. After retiring from Pan Am, Ray worked part time at Turtle Hook Middle School and Hofstra University. He enjoyed volunteering at St. James R.C. Church in Seaford as an usher every Sunday. He liked to collect stamps and enjoyed fishing. He loved to spend time with his family and was so proud of his 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Ray is survived by his devoted wife Elaine Caluori of Farmingdale N.Y., their children: Raymond and his wife Jane of Myrtle Beach South Carolina, John and his wife Laurie of North Bellmore, NY, Anthony and his wife Lisa of Garden City, NY and Michael of Westbury, NY. He wasthe loving grandfather of Jacqueline, Collette, Joseph, Michelle, Matthew, Caroline, Larissa, Christopher, Stephen, Christina, Dylan, and Anthony Jr. and adoring Poppa to his great grandchildren - Joseph, Kayleigh, Cianna, Carter, Ryleigh, and Ryder. Visitation Friday March 22nd from 3:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:30 at Frederick J. Chapey & Sons Funeral Home, 20 Hicksville Road, Bethpage. Mass Saturday March 23rd 9:15 am at the St. James R.C. Church 80 Hicksville Road, Seaford. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his name to the Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County – 380 Washington Avenue Roosevelt NY 11575.
