Obituary
SPARKS- Christopher Robert, of Babylon, NY on March 16, 2024. Cherished son of Marylou and Robert John Sparks. Devoted father of Robert (Bobby) Zane Sparks. Beloved brother of Catherine (Paul) Desjardins, J. Kevin Sparks, Jeffrey (Claire) Sparks and Cynthia (Robert) Dreher. Loving partner of Heather Hendzel for the past 3 years.
Chris was born in West Islip on March 31, 1964, and grew up in Babylon. He was involved in all recreation sports that the town offered. Chris was a graduate of Babylon High School where he wrestled and played football. During High School he spent his winters on the ski team in Wyndham, NY and during summers he was on the Town of Babylon swimming team. He relished telling stories of his days working on the boats at Captree Boat basin. After graduating high school, he attended New York Maritime at Fort Schyler.
As a young adult, he moved to Chicago, Illinois for employment and remained in Bolingbrook to be close to his son, Bobby. While in Chicago, Chris obtained his license as an MRI Technician from Triton College and worked at Edward Hospital. In 2015, Chris moved back to Babylon and worked at St. Catherine’s Hospital.
.
Known for his easy-going and lighthearted personality, Chris could light up a room with his many jokes and stories. Chris also loved to cook and often could be found singing and dancing around the kitchen while preparing a new recipe to share at family gatherings. At these family events, he frequently prepared fun activities and loved to entertain his nieces and nephews.
Chris died peacefully of natural causes at his home. He will be missed by all of his family, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and his many friends.
