Obituary
Eastwood, John of Bethpage, N.Y. on January 27, 2024. John was born in Astoria, N.Y. Beloved husband of Anne since 1964. Loving Dad of Karen Eastwood Fikar and son-in-law Ernie; Kathy Eastwood Mennemeyer and son-in-law Ralph; Amazing Grandfather to Jake and Julia Fikar; brother to Grace Harte and the late William Eastwood and Carol Hyer. The Eastwood Family was able to care for John at home due to the extraordinary care provided by Michelle Pamela Service and Carleine Thorpe. John was an active member of the Bethpage Community. He proudly worked on the Bethpage St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee and served as the Grand Marshall of this parade in 2009. Many may know John from his work with the SMT / Bethpage Soccer Club, Bethpage Chamber of Commerce, Bethpage Tribune, St. Martin’s Parish Council, Knights of Columbus, Parish Counter, Pre Cana Counselor, Church Usher, and perhaps his ownership of the Bethpage Sports Center.

John was one of the most faith-filled, kind gentlemen I have ever known. He was a great soccer coach, active member of St. Martin’s parish.and member of the Bethpage community. John was a key person during the early days of the Bethpage St. Patrick’s Parade. He raised money to pay for the pipe bands and other expenses and he served as treasurer. Whatever needed to be done for the parade, John was always ready and willing to help out. The longevity of the parade is due in part to people like John and others - the early committee members - who worked hard to establish what has become a Bethpage tradition.
My late husband Jack and I considered John Eastwood a very special friend. Condolences to Anne and the family.

I will miss my uncle. I will miss his kindness, love and most of all his HANDSHAKE. I am sure my uncle asked to shake Jesus hand..Jesus had no idea what was coming next!!
