Obituary
Laurie Ann Massaro D’Alessio
5/27/61 1/18/24
We are so sad and heartbroken to announce the passing of Laurie D’Alessio, 62 of West Islip. She passed away suddenly on January 18, 2024. Laurie was one of the kindest, funniest and generous women to walk the earth. Our family was blessed to have her! Laurie was family oriented, caring, thoughtful, respectful, neat and organized and extremely hard-working. Laurie was born to parents, Mark Massaro and Anne Troiano Massaro, predeceased. Laurie was predeceased by her brother, William Massaro. She is survived by her spouse, Ernest D’Alessio, and her son, which was her entire world, Vincent D’Alessio. She leaves behind many siblings: Mark and Marie Massaro, Joseph and Sue Massaro, Patricia Massaro-Haff and Ronnie Haff, Robert and Debbie Massaro, Mary Massaro and Frank Caltabellotta and Billy and Linda Skinner. She leaves behind so many nephews and nieces and great nephews and nieces that adored her. She leaves behind her companion, her dog Shadow, that was “her shadow.”
Laurie worked in the family business Chubby’s Deli. She was an invaluable employee and staple in the business. No one can ever take her place! Coworkers and customers are devastated by Laurie’s passing since Laurie took such great care of them, and always went above and beyond to help any person (or animal for that matter). Laurie was known by all for her lively and entertaining personality. She was down to earth, and was loved by all!
.
You could find Laurie at Chubby’s every day on the phone constantly or talking with people to serve them. It was not uncommon for her to be feeding stray cats on the way home from work. She loved all animals, but especially her dog, turtles and numerous fish in her pond at home. Laurie had an uncanny ability to touch all that knew her, whether it was for five minutes or a lifetime. We love you Laurie! She will be eternally missed and forever in our hearts.
We honor Laurie, with services Thursday, January 25, 2024 at Chapey’s funeral home from 3:00 to 5:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm with a funeral mass Friday 9:30 am, January 26, 2024 at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in West Islip. Following the mass, she will be buried at Saint Charles Cemetery with her mom, Anne Massaro, brother, William Massaro, nephew, Ronald Haff, and numerous other family members in the Troiano family plot. Thank you for all the love and support for Laurie and her entire family.
