Obituary
Eileen F. Karter passed away peacefully on January 20, 2024 with Family and Friends by her side.
Eileen was born in Brooklyn to Anthony and Alice Karter. After High School, Eileen started her career at the Bell Telephone Company where she worked as a Manager and retired after working 35 years (where she had Perfect Attendance, never called in Sick one day!)
She enjoyed Traveling, Skiing and Boating. Her favorite place to visit was St. Maarten where she had a timeshare and visited for almost 50 years. She loved skiing and had many adventures skiing all over the Northeast and out West. Her favorite place to ski was Park City, Utah. She also loved her traditional Christmastime trips to NYC with her sister and nieces going to see Broadway shows and trying different restaurants for over 45 Years.
Eileen is survived by her sister Lynn Haffer, Niece Jill Monaco and her husband Kevin, Niece Ginger Coffey and her husband Brian, Great Nephew and Nieces Brandon, Danielle, Jack, Sean and Kaitlyn.
She has many, many wonderful friends who have become Family.
Eileen’s passion for Family, Friends and Life will be missed.

She was such a beautiful person, inside and out. We were friends for 60 years. Gail, Eileen and I traveled around in our car(s) all around the USA together. Gail and I used Eileen as "bait" because she was so beautiful, and all the guys were "taken" by her beauty. We once went to a Boston Red Sox game at Fenway Park, and the outfielder noticed her right away and started to talk to her. Those were the days when we were young and carefree and always ready to take risks for a laugh, for a good time, of which we had many. She epitomized diligence and elegance, an interesting combination, so different from Gail and me. When I relocated to Japan, she stayed in touch with me. always filling me in with the news and sending me the best Christmas cards ever (which I still have). When I visited the Island, she and Gail took good care of me, reminding me that miles cannot dissolve friendship. I stayed at her lovely abode in Bay Shore during visits and felt very much at home. I wanted to host her in Japan, but she said it was too far away. She really was regal and taken from us too soon. But I do believe she lived a good life, was loved by her family and friends and loved her sister and nieces with every molecule of her being. I will miss her smile, her gentle demeanor. She was and is, by far, one of my beloved American treasures. Sayonara, Eileen. Thank you for many precious memories. Helene Jarmol Uchida
