I met Paul October 1st, 2018 at the Tower Theater in Philadelphia. He was sitting in front of me in the balcony and we got to talking while waiting for Neil Young to start. We talked about our appreciation of Neil's music, other bands/shows, and life in general. I mentioned that I came in from NY via Megabus and would have to run to the train station to catch my bus. At some point in the evening, he noticed I was getting restless, checking the time, and offered to drive me back so I wouldn't have to miss the end or be too distracted to enjoy the show. We got in the car and talked for the 90 or so miles. From then until I moved to California in May of 2022, we often met up at shows, texted each other about our latest adventures, or asked for advice about bands. I remember how excited he was about getting last minute Rolling Stones tickets and making his way to the field, taking great pictures along the way. I remember bumping into him on the ferry after Gordon Lightfoot. I remember chatting at the Beacon before Nick Mason began. I remember being happy he was recovering from Covid and was able to see the Mets. I remember our last show together, Wilco at the United Palace. Along for the ride was another Neil friend I'd met at a different show. Great company, disappointing show (too short!), we all laughed/shrugged it off, knowing there would be more shows, more great times, in the future. So sorry to hear Paul has passed. I had a strange feeling when he didn't respond to my texts over the last few months. I'm so sad that my intuition was right. I'll be thinking of him in May when I take my family to see Neil, about what Paul would think of it.
He was one of the nicest people I've ever met, so easy to talk with, so immediately friendly without being insincere or fake. He was always himself and allowed me to always be myself. What more could you ask for?

I've been trying to write something for this tribute wall for days, but everything I've written has been too cloying, which Paul would hate. So, I'll just say that I am completely devastated. But with that devastation comes gratitude to have been gifted with such an incredible friend in this life. Kind, smart, and funny (the funniest person I've ever known), Paul has always been the person I looked up to and aspired to be. Words simply aren't enough. I hope that his family can find some semblance of peace throughout this difficult time and be heartened to know that Paul was an overwhelmingly positive influence on every person that lucked into his orbit.

Not sure who I stole this 1998 photo from a while ago, but I’m grateful for the memories of my friends, some here, some not, but always in our hearts that we will once again all be together…my heart broke when I learned the news, but also so grateful I was able to see Paul again this past April when he came to visit, his soul always lifted mine and I am thankful that he is part of my life…Love to his family and all friends who knew him as family

Here is a picture of Paul, Deanna and me ... some pale FL kids in our salad days in NYC in the early 00's.
We had the best times, you couldn't ask for a better meet-up buddy than Paul.
He had great stories to tell, and patiently listened oh-so-well to all our misadventures.
I know no bigger Twin Peaks or Mets fan than you.
Oh Paul, you are already missed.
So many of us love you, and our hearts are broken.
When they start to mend, a piece of you will always be a part of us.
Sending my love to all of Paul's family and friends.

Paul was an awesome guy and a great teammate. We’ve been playing softball together every week, going to Mets games, and eating as many wings as possible since 2008. I’m used to waking up to 300 texts in our group chat during the baseball season, usually 1/4 of the messages commenting how bad our Mets were but how hopeful we were for the next year.
These pictures are from our championship this summer. Paul started as our SS, then moved to 3B and 1B more recently. He either hit a line drive down the 3rd base line or fouled it down the 3rd base line. I never saw him hit a ball once to the right side. #6 will always be a core part of the Buffalo Swings and we will miss him.

I worked with Paul for what is now a pretty small stretch of my life but in that time made a friend that I feel like I’ve known forever and was looking forward to many, many more years of friendship with. I can only be grateful for the time I had with Paul and hope that he fully understood how important he was to me. I will not forget him.

Paul has been a great friend since we met working at Martha Stewart Living over 20 years ago. Paul affected my life in so many positive ways and I'm proud and thankful to have known and spent time with him. Some of the best memories are the camping trips to the Adirondacks where we enjoyed nature, shared our love of music, humor and baseball, and batted rocks across the river (pictured). My deepest sympathies and condolences to all of Paul's family. You will be greatly missed! - Craig Irwin
