HAFELE - Katherine, (nee Whalen) of West Islip, NY, on November 23, 2023. Loving wife of the late Harry Hafele. Loving mother of Patricia (the late Richard) Unterstein, Douglas Hafele and the late Richard Hafele. Cherished grandmother of Allison (Michael) Lam and Erin (Brian) Leach and great grandmother Michael, Eleanor, Ricky and Kieran. Katherine, better known to all as Katie, was a life long resident of West Islip. She was born, 1928 on the former Keith Estate and remained in West Islip for her life. She was a graduate of St. Joseph’s grammar school and Babylon High School. As a proud local resident she was an active member of the West Islip historical society. She enjoyed providing information on local history. Katie always enjoyed the good company of her family and friends. She will be extremely missed by all. Reposing at The Fredrick J.
