Charles J. Stack, Jr., affectionately known as "Junior" within his family, was born on July 14, 1936, in New York, NY, to Anna and Charles Stack. Inspired by his older brother John, Charlie pursued a career as an aircraft mechanic at TWA, earning his credentials from the Academy of Aeronautics. His passion for aviation led him to become a technical writer at Grumman Aerospace Corporation, where he contributed to manuals for military aircraft like the A-6 Intruder, EA-6B Prowler, and his favorite, the F-14 Tomcat. Charlie's crowning achievement came in 1969 when he proudly worked on the Apollo 11 Lunar Module, marking humanity's first moon landing. His home showcased memorabilia from this historic mission and others he collaborated on with NASA, including Apollo 12, Apollo 13, and Apollo 14. Beyond his aerospace pursuits, Charlie cherished the beach. In 1963, he and his beloved wife, Marian, purchased their first home; a unique home in Ocean Bay Park, Fire Island, celebrating 60 years of ownership on November 22, 2023. Throughout his life, Charlie maintained close ties with childhood friends like Jack, Bob, Mary, Rosemary, and others, many of whom shared his fondness for Fire Island.

In 1966, Charlie welcomed his daughter, Patricia, into the world, and the family relocated from Woodhaven, NY, to Dix Hills, Long Island, in 1969. In 1993, his grandson Christopher was born, prompting a move to Hauppauge to care for him. Charlie and Christopher bonded over a shared love of golf, often seen on the golf course or attending PGA tournaments. Charlie also enjoyed playing billiards and bowling, skills learned from his father. Cars held a special place in his heart, evident in his hobby of buying, fixing, and watching car shows on TV. The most significant relationship in Charlie's life was with his beloved wife, Marian. They met as teenagers and patiently waited until Charlie turned 21 to marry on January 18, 1958. Their honeymoon in Hawaii marked the beginning of a shared love for travel, exploring Europe and the Caribbean with their parents. Charlie declined an opportunity to become a Navy pilot to stay close to Marian. Their inseparable bond lasted until March 17, 2017, when Marian passed away from Multiple Myeloma, just one year shy of their 60th wedding anniversary. Charles J. Stack, Jr., aged 87, departed on November 16, 2023, after a prolonged battle with dementia. He is survived by his daughter Patricia and grandson Christopher. A graveside funeral service is scheduled at St. Charles Catholic Cemetery in Farmingdale on Monday, November 20 and all are welcome to attend.
