Obituary of Margaret H. Bentley

Margaret H. Bentley, 89, of Bay Shore NY, born in Flushing Queens NY. Predeceased by husband Edward J. Bentley, parents Thaddeus and Jennie Grabowski, and her sister Barbara Grabowski Bartell. Survived by 5 children, 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Margaret was voted “most original” in her senior class at the all-girl Jamaica Vocational High School in 1945. She was a homemaker until all her children were grown. After raising her children, Marge worked in retail at Macy's Department Stores, she was a secretary for a typewriter repair company, lunch aid for elementary school children and a cook for St Joseph’s Parish priests in Babylon NY. She moved up to Connecticut with her husband in 1986 where she worked in a gift shop and volunteered in Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam. She also joined an art club and various singles groups after her husband passed 1993. In 1998 Marge moved back to Long Island, NY where she volunteered at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip. She joined various senior groups through Our Lady of Lourdes Church in West Islip. Marge was a talented artist and painted various landscapes and tee shirts for so many to enjoy. She was a breast cancer survivor. She impacted many people with her words of wisdom, straight forward personality and her “move forward move on” manner. Marge was in Good Samaritan Sayville Nursing/Rehab Center for the last two months of her life. She showed great courage and was able to touch the lives of the staff in the short time she was there. Her family would like to say they are thankful for all the sympathy and acts of love that have been expressed.
