Obituary
Carol Gramer was born in Queens, New York in 1942 and passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2023. Carol was predeceased by her parents, Werner and Gertrude Kalinka, and husband of 46 years, Richard Gramer Jr. Carol is survived by her daughter Krista Gramer, and her siblings Joan Tibaldi, Cathy Scogno, and Richard Kalinka. She is also survived by eight nieces and nephews.
Carol married Richard Gramer Jr. in April 1964 and while living in Glendale, New York worked as a secretary for an insurance agency, Workman’s Benefit Fund.
In 1974, Carol and her husband moved to the suburbs of Long Island in West Islip, New York, where she resided for most of her life and made many lasting friendships. She took on various jobs over the years while being a homemaker from working for the schools as a lunch lady, working in retail marketing and sales and most well-known for being an Avon lady for over 30 years.
Carol loved flowers and working in her garden. She was an excellent cook and put love in all her special dishes. Carol enjoyed being near the ocean and spent many wonderful times with family and friends at Robert Moses State Park Beach. She enjoyed taking summer vacations with her husband and daughter up and down the East Coast.
Carol came from a very close knit family and would celebrate every special occasion and holiday together. Her parents resided in their later years in New Fairfield, Connecticut, a special haven by Candlewood Lake away from the hustle and bustle of life on Long Island. Carol would visit there often, creating memories to last a lifetime.
In her later years, Carol enjoyed going on day trips to casinos and try her best at winning the penny slots. She enjoyed watching old movies and also baseball and Nascar racing. She was an avid reader and loved to play cards with family. She was always playing lottery scratch-off tickets, always hoping to find winning tickets no matter how big or small.
.
In 2020, Carol moved to an assisted living facility in Bethel, Connecticut to be in closer proximity to her daughter and siblings.
The family will receive friends at Chapey and Sons funeral home in East Islip, New York. Carol will be laid to rest at Calverton National Cemetery with her husband, Richard, a veteran of the United States Air Force, who passed in 2011.

Carol was the sister of my best friend, Joan, for over almost 70 years. She had a sense of humor during our childhood years and after. In your grief please remember - Grief is really just love. It's all the love that you want to give but cannot. All of that unspent love gathers in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat and in the hallow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go. May Carol rest in piece. With the fondest of memories, Judy Timo
