Obituary
Sheila McLoughlin, of Babylon, NY, died at the age of 61 after a long hard fought battle with Breast Cancer. Sheila was the loving daughter of Francis and Victoria McLoughlin, devoted sister to Sparky(Jackie); Dedi (Dennis); Bryan (Caryn); Taryn(Kenney); Drew (Lori); Matt (Jill); Maria (Sal); sister in law Kris(Bruce). Forever remembered and loved by her 19 nieces and nephews, 9 grandnieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins and life long friends, Cathy(Tony) and Roger. Sheila graduated from Babylon High School in 1979 and was a college graduate from Dowling College. Sheila had a long standing career with Pricewaterhouse and Ernst & Young. Sheila’s strong work ethic was highly valued by her colleagues. Sheila had many passions, including bike riding in Montauk, numerous swims at Fire Island, baking her famous chocolate chip cookies, brownies and pound cake. She was the best Auntie (Aunt She She) to her nieces and nephews. Prior to her retirement, she earned enough credits to become a Certified Personal Trainer. Sheila made an impact on many lives and volunteered her services to St. Joseph’s Church and was a Eucharist Minister at Good Samaritan Hospital. We will always love and miss you, until we meet again. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition 218 N. Wellwood Ave. Suite #2 Lindenhurst, NY 11757 or St. Joseph’s Church 39 N. Carll Ave. Babylon, NY 11702.

Truly sad news. It was an honor to call her a friend. We had a great crew at BHS ! Class of '79 reunion, 9/2019 @ Cedar Beach, a little blurry but we all were that night.

As another member of the Locket/Magnificent 7 from Babylon High, I too send my sincere condolences to Sheila's family. We had many memories and laughs over the years. I saddens me that Sheila lost her battle. She was a giving, caring sole. A life taken too soon. With love, Liz Gutmann Slevin

I have too many memories that I have to share ; my dad and Sheila had a special bond. It wasn’t just Christmas Eve it was St Patrick’s Day too.
After he retired from NYFD every year while he was alive he would leave her a St Patty’s Day message on her phone. Mom would dial it and dad would talk as if he was in Ireland. It was so sweet and so much fun, she’d get home from work and call me hysterical laughing. It was the best of times.

Shelia me and Allen will miss you so much until we meet again. You are one of the kindest, hard working, sweetest people we have ever met. We will always remember the wonderful times we had together on Christmas Eve at my parents house when you stopped by. My Dad would have his Chefs hat on and we would all have a toast to the Holiday together. We will also remember the wonderful boat ride party that we went on and many of our friends from the city came out for the evening. I always enjoyed our phone conversations to catch up where we left off. Although I met you through my Sister Cathy, I always felt like you were a great friend of mine, and like another Sister to both of us and we will miss you so much. We send you on your final journey with love, tears and the knowing that you are at Peace and you will always be the Angel who watches over us. Until we meet again Shelia we will always Love and Miss you. Debra Forman-Targhi and Allen Targhi

It hurts my heart to hear this sad news of my friend Sheila. I send blessings of strength and healing to the McLoughlin family. We shared a kinship from high school, talked about family, health, exercise, sailing/boating on the Great South Bay and overall positivity in life. We bragged together about our nieces and nephews and all their accomplishments. I loved her laugh and she will be terribly missed.

Sheila and I worked together at EY. She offered her expertise willingly, performed her role professionally, and looked to learn and grow. We had a few opportunities to share a meal as a team and relax - I learned at these outings that Sheila was a lot of fun! My condolences to Sheila’s family and friends. Lifting you in prayer.

My sincere condolences to the McLoughlin family. When I think of my love for Sheila I am almost lost for words. We met on a sailboat by a mutual Babylon friend. From there it was a forever friendship. I moved next door to her in an apartment where for years we traveled together. Long Island marathon, Vermont 60 mile bike tours, Organizing boat trips on the Taryn Ann, walking Argle Park, did a reading at my wedding, Christmas Eve at my parents were just our some of our many years together. She was classy, charming and extremely generous, oh and she made the best rice pudding. She really was so trustworthy, reliable and yes had her own opinions.
That’s what made her special. She didn’t waver. Her commute to NYC often ended with me asking how her day was, if the trains were delayed I would text her. It’s what we did, we were connected for life
Simply stated she was my rock, my hero my best friend. She loved her family nieces and nephews,I could stay on the phone for an hour and still think of things to talk about.
Sheila I know heaven just got a true champion, you taught me so much in life and I am truly blessed to have you as my forever eternal friend. And in the end she fought so hard yet she hung on to every hope and dream. I always called her my Pooh Bear and I know she is sending me a hug right know. I love you Sheila; I will look for every sign you send me and I pray for peaceful journey to heaven

Sheila somehow became my sister from another mother. The terrible kinship of cancer transformed into our shared love of family that we regularly shared! She and I formed a bond that I will sorely miss but I am so grateful for our time together. I pray for your family during this difficult time. Peace and love be with you all.
