I was a client of Sean's but I truly viewed him as a friend the past 20 years we have worked with him. He was so kind and generous with his time. What impressed me the most is once he told me he worked with an elderly couple and the husband asked that if he passed he would still take care of his wife's taxes. She was very old but Sean drove all the way from upstate NY to Long Island to her home once a year and kept his commitment. He was an amazing person and I will keep the family in my prayers.

I am so sorry for the loss of your loved one. I met Sean through a reference by one of my closest friends. I had just gotten a divorce and I needed help through the financial fallout that went with it. He was so kind and shared a bit of life wisdom with me. Even more, he said that by next year when he saw me, I would be telling him that I'm happier, healthier, and maybe in love already. I chuckled, but loved his positivity. A few years after that he told me he was getting a divorce and I was able to show him, by example, that things would get better. We kept in touch from time to time and I loved that he shared in my triumphs as I slowly gained my financial growth and independence back over the years. He was not only a great financial advisor, but I felt that he was a friend. I am feeling a loss on both fronts. I will miss his guidance, his positivity, his support, and most of all his hugs. To his parents: You raised an amazing son. With deepest sympathy, respect, and love, Wendi Huff

I met Sean through an academy buddy in Maryland over 20 years ago. Sean and "the other New Yorkers," bombastic and boisterous, were those vicarious buddies who us Marylanders mixed it up with from time to time. Every assembly was of epic proportion with guaranteed shenanigans afoot. It was evident to me that Sean lived full tilt, and was as genuine a character as one could know. I'm glad to have known him. It has been a tough run of time as of late for that tight circle of friends and family, however, the indelible impression that Sean (and Moon) have left cannot be understated or undersold. The Marylanders thoughts are with all the friends and family.

Sean was a hard-working and trusted advisor in our community. Sean was always quick to remind us when an issue would arise that in the bigger scheme of life, it wasn’t all that significant. Sean truly respected his father, and was so proud of him—it’s definitely where Sean got his work ethic, sharing with me a memory of the summer he actually worked alongside his dad, telling me what great respect he had for him especially after that experience. We are truly sorry for his family. Our deepest condolences.

A Caring Soul
I was with Sean on March 16th. He spent more time in our appointment consoling me from the loss of my father 10 days earlier and sharing stories about his parents and the close and cherished relationship he had with his brother. I met Sean when my mother passed 10 years ago and I had to step in to manage my dad's life. He consoled me that year and supported me with sound advice and his huge hearts year after year when I returned in March. He always reminded me of great memories he had of my parents and my mom's keen sense of organization and financial planning and and talked me through how I needed to prepare for next phases of care for my father who had Alzheimers. I could "see" that Sean was incredibly proficient at his profession, as he sped through my paperwork and produced a tax return in minutes but what I "felt" when I was with him and long after I left the office, was that he cared so deeply for people and he was intent on being as good a person as he was an accountant and financial advisor. My heart breaks to hear that he is gone. For him, for his family, friends, coworkers, and all of those he touched daily by just being a light of goodness. I will be forever grateful to have spent 10 appointments with him over these 10 years and pray that he is at peace and will continue to watch over his loved ones from above. Heaven just welcomed another saint! My deepest condolences and prayers go out to his family.

I am totally devastated to hear of the sudden passing of Sean O'Keefe. I had just met with him on March 2 to do my taxes. What a wonderful, intelligent, knowledgeable, honest, friendly person he was! We always shared personal experiences. He never hesitated to pick up the phone when I was looking for advice, even when I am sure he was extremely busy! He was planning to meet with me again in late April to discuss trusts and I was anxious to receive his well informed advice. It took me years and years to find a tax accountant and financial analyst of his caliber. My heart goes out to his even closer friends and family as I know his passing is a huge loss and the grief of a wonderful life cut so short is difficult to bear. It is truly an exception when someone you've known such little time made such an impact on your life. This is what my husband and I can say about Sean! He became our advisor about 4 years ago and although we had many conversations on the phone we never actually met in person. That didn't matter because he was such an amazing guy we felt from our first conversation that we had known him for a long time. His impact on our life personally, and professionally will always remain. He was the smartest, kindest and in the best way possible, direct with his advice person we had known and we loved this so about him! I know if we feel this way, his closest family and friends are truly devastated and lost right now. Our hearts and hugs go out to you all. My husband and I are so saddened about Sean’s passing. My whole family has known him for a very long time, and even after we moved to North Carolina 8 years ago, we drove up to see him every year for our taxes and always looked forward to catching up. He was so insightful, patient, and personable. He’d always save some time during our appointment to chat and just see how life was, what was new, and he would always remember little things. He made you feel like more than just a client and we will miss those visits. Our deepest condolences to his family, he will certainly be missed.

Sean was a Dear, Sweet, Kind, Helpful, Friendly & always a Cheerful type of guy. He helped me get my finances organized when I retired. I actually had to keep going back to him, so I could hear him say "You're going to be OK". He even wrote it in red pen on the bottom of my notes.
I Thank You Sean for ALL that you did for me and will MISS You Very Very Much!
You were taken WAY too soon... RIP

We are so saddened to hear this news. Sean was such a good human being. He always asked us about our lives beyond our taxes and remembered things about us that we had shared a year earlier. We're grateful to Sean for helping us with his incredible brain and for connecting with us with his incredible heart.

My wife and I have known Sean for his entire 26 years that he was in Poughkeepsie. We came to know Sean by chance, but it was not by chance that we became close to and extremely fond of him. Sean crossed the line from being an advisor to that of dear friend. Our entire family and friends were not only clients but also friends. Our hearts are broken and he will surely be missed.

I am so very sorry and so very shocked. I have known Sean for SO long. He helped me through the premature birth of my son, with all of the complications of cerebral palsy with him, my divorce and termination of a terrible time in my life. More than 30 years Sean. So many laughs, so many tears (mostly mine) and such a feeling of security with you at my back with financial issues and just your friendship. You made EVERYONE feel special, and so important. My deepest condolences to your family. I am sorry Sean. You were so young. You always thought we were the same age, yet you were eight years younger. I will miss you so much more than preparing my taxes. I introduced you to my new husband, 15 years ago, and you helped him through the death of his son and the complications of having to take money out of a 401k, to pay for his funeral. You took over his Mom's taxes, trust and handled all of her IRA deposits to pay for her nursing home. I introduced you to my Mom, right after my Dad passed away, so that you could help her with her financial matters. I cannot wrap my head around not seeing you again. I am so glad we had an hour long visit, just a couple of weeks ago, to prepare taxes, deal with trust matters, and talking chickens, life, gardens, and just everything. I will miss you so much!!!!

Sean, We consider ourselves very lucky to have had you in our life for the last 20+ years. So much more than our accountant and advisor you are a friend, a trusted confidant and quite possibly one of the hardest working, genuine people to have come into our life. Everyone who knew you left your office feeling the same way -- with a smile on their face knowing they couldn't be in better hands. Although I think we all wanted you to take a day off every now and again or let us take you out!
We are going to miss you terribly,
Jesse and Jessica Alpers

To Sean's family, please accept my condolences. I am so saddened by this untimely loss. Sean was not "the accountant" but "my accountant" to me and many people. He helped me through the loss of my husband, crying and laughing with me through the difficult times. Aside from his work, he spoke with love about his family and friends. He was a man with ethics, compassion and professionalism. He was a friend who I trusted. He will be missed.

My wife and I are truly shocked to hear of Sean's untimely passing. Our thoughts, prayers, and condolences go out his family.
We remember Sean as not only someone who prepared our taxes, but was also a family friend, who cared for his clients and friends and treated them with the utmost respect. Sean was easy to talk to and when my wife and mother in law would go to his office, they would make Sean laugh the entire time we were in his office. Words cannot reverse what has happened, but I hope they give his family some comfort to know that he was admired, loved, and respected by so many people.

We so looked forward to our annual visit with him, not only to have our taxes done, but more importantly to discuss local restaurants that we each frequented throughout the year. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. He was a rare person with a positive outlook and friendly, intelligent conversation. We will certainly miss him....

Sean was a gift and a light to everyone who was fortunate enough to know him. Sean was never just a great financial planner, but a friend who really cared. He was always ready and willing to answer any questions. When we were leaving, he always said “If you have any questions, please call.”. This was during his busiest tax season! How generous was that! But that described Sean to a “t”, always ready to help anyone. We are so sorry for his family and those who knew them. This is such a tragedy to lose someone so young. He had so many years to live a life and enjoy the non-working piece, although he loved his work and all the people he touched. Sean, you will be truly missed in so many ways. Our deepest condolences to Sean’s family and friends. We’ve worked with Sean for many years. Though clients, he always gave us such sincere and caring advise and conversation that it was like talking with a close friend. In many ways he knew more about us than our closest friends. We were so looking forward to our next conversation regarding our next steps at retirement. Waiting to schedule time after he got “some rest” from tax season. You were a thoughtful and caring man Sean. We will miss you. Jose and Monica Morales.

My deepest condolences. I am so sad to hear of Sean's passing.
I knew Sean because Sean was my mother's financial and tax advisor for many, many, many years.
My mom always spoke so highly of him on so many occasions. Over the years he truly became a trusted friend to her also.
When my mom passed away in 2020, which was one of the most devastating times of my life,
Sean assisted me with her estate with the utmost grace, kindness, compassionate and patience.
I will never forget his genuine kindness.
I did not had the pleasure of meeting Sean in person, but I knew what kind of person he was and I will
forever be grateful to him.
My thoughts and prayers.
God bless you.
