Obituary
Mary Louise Colleluori, 96, of Old Bethpage, New York, died on Saturday, April 1, 2023.
She was a skilled seamstress and enjoyed making and altering dresses, coats, hats, and other clothing articles for family and friends. Mary was also an avid reader who consumed literature of all forms. Her family benefited extensively from her talents in the kitchen and will particularly miss her exquisite lasagna, manicotti and cheesecake. Mary was a great supporter, and #1 fan of the Long Island Cubs and the Plainview-Old Bethpage football, baseball, and lacrosse programs. Her American flag was guaranteed to be always flying outside her house, a patriotism that was even acknowledged by a citation from the VFW. She was smart and hard-working, which is evidenced by her honor achievement as valedictorian in high school and her career as an executive secretary with U.S. Steel. Though she worked hard she took time to enjoy life too and loved to have a cold beer with family and friends. Mary was strongly devoted to her husband of 47 years, Mario, who passed away in 1997. After he suffered a heart attack in 1991, she assumed caretaking responsibilities for him that she carried out admirably. In addition to her love of family, Mary was a devout Roman Catholic and contributor to The Society of St. Pius, the Daughters of Mary Convent, and the Immaculate Heart Seminary.
.
Mary is survived by her son, Mark Colleluori (Barbara); daughter, Donna Panzarino; five grandchildren, Jen (Jerry), Tom (Leila), Kathleen (Cris), Margaret (T.J.), and Katherine (Dan); fourteen great-grandchildren; many cherished nieces and nephews; and her cousin, Dolores Perrato, with whom she had a close, lifelong friendship. She was predeceased by her husband, Mario V. Colleluori; her parents, Cecilia and Louis Tassi; and sisters, Helen Furlani (Arnaldo) and Tilda Osojnak (Harry).
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at St. Pius V Chapel in Oyster Bay Cove, New York. Family & friends are invited to meet at the church on Wednesday. Interment will immediately follow in Mount St. Mary Cemetery, Flushing, New York.
In lieu of flowers the family invites friends to make contributions to Society of St. Pius V (8 Pond Place, Oyster Bay Cove, NY 11771), Immaculate Heart Seminary (P.O. Box 56, Round Top, NY 12473), or Daughters of Mary, St. Joseph’s Novitiate (P.O. Box 205, Round Top, NY 12473).
