FF William P. “Billy” Moon, II of Islip, LI. Proud Firefighter of the FDNY of 21 years. Beloved husband of Kristina Anne Moon. Devoted father of Brianne and Colin. Cherished son of William P. Moon and Patricia Moon. Dear brother of Christina (Michael) Vansteen and Robert (Melinda) Moon. Firefighter Moon will be missed by all of his loving extended family and friends. “This is a heartbreaking loss for New York’s Bravest, and for our entire city,” said New York City Mayor Eric Adams. “Firefighter Moon was a dedicated public servant, who spent more than two decades saving the lives of New Yorkers and will continue to do so in his passing. Firefighter Moon was appointed to the FDNY on May 5, 2002. He began his career in Ladder Company 133 in Queens, where he worked for 20 years before being detailed to Rescue Company 2, in Brooklyn earlier this year. In addition to serving the FDNY, Firefighter Moon also served as a member of the Islip Volunteer Fire Department on Long Island, including serving as their Chief of Department in 2017. Reposing at The Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons East Islip Funeral Home, 200 East Main Street (1/2 mile west of S.S. Pkwy., exit 45W). Celebration of the Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick’s R.C. Church, Bay Shore, LI on Thursday, December 29, 2022, at 11:00 AM. Interment to follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Bay Shore, LI. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to www.fdnyfoundation.org/donate; select “FF William P.
