HAWKINS – Robert Vail “Hawk,” of Nesconset, LI, on December 5, 2022. Beloved husband of Debra Ward. Devoted father of Robert Vail Jr., Jeanne Hawkins Bishop, Christopher Ward, Kami Horsley, Matt Ward, and Anna Ward Graham. Cherished grandfather of Robert III, Derek, Sam Bishop, Troy, Nikita, Glen Conway, Corrine Conway-Desimone, Briana Conway-O’Connor, Zoey and Curren Horsley, and Braden and Matty Ward. Treasured great grandfather of eight. Men like Bob Hawkins are such a rarity. He was a true waterman, who clammed until the age of 78 and rode and shaped boards better than most. The biggest animal lover no matter how big or small. A cherished member of the hockey community both as a player and coach. Avid music enthusiast who never sat out a dance or missed the chance to jam on the drums. And of course, his favorite role and passion of all was being the caretaker of his beautiful family. He lived for his people and ensuring they felt his love, and man, we sure did. His massive heart had a positive impact on all who were privileged enough to know him. Although his loss has undoubtedly broken many hearts and left a void, he would want us to remember all the good times and keep riding the waves. He is a legend who will be incredibly missed. (1/4 mile west of the Robert Moses Cswy.) on Sunday, December 18, 2022 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Memorial Funeral service on Monday, December 19, 2022 at 10:00 am at Old First Church, Huntington, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Southampton Animal Shelter.
