Dearest Lynnel
Your family is my family. Your sisters are my sisters.
When I first visited your house in Jericho you were just a kid,Patrice was a toddler, and Anita was my girlfriend .Your mother became my mother.
We all grew up together.
I loved all of you in different ways and still do.
You were the kookiest sister and had the best (only?) sense of humor. I remember when you had a “business” collecting frogs from the wetlands around the old Jericho Country Club and selling them to other kids in your neighborhood. Kids would ring the bell at 3 Sutton Terrace and say “any frogs today?”
When you were a dental hygienist your sparkling personality was responsible for the dentist’s success. He knew that.and your sparkling temper kept him in line …and he vacuumed the office himself.
I admired you loyalty to your friends , especially to Sheryl and Rael.
I was happy when you married Jim and had two lovely children with him. Claire took to him immediately and I always liked him and will try to take good care of him like he took good care of you.
When you began having health issues your spirit remained strong. You told me that you experienced many “new normals” and that it was best to accept them as such and move on. I was impressed by your ability to entertain during the holidays. You and the girls and Jim always did a great job.
You and Jim made every effort to visit us and I could see how difficult that was.
I am SO glad I visited you a couple of weeks ago.
You cried, you laughed, you made jokes, and directed me and Jim even though you could barely speak.
When you were a kid you announced that “from now on I am a vegetarian and my name is Lynnel”.
So that’s what I called you
When I left your room I said “goodbye Lynnel” and we blew each other kisses.
Rest In peace, sister.
The this new normal will be easier.
Love,
Drew

My dear friend Lynne. From our earliest High School days, you were not only my next door neighbor, but one of my best friends. We shared so many happy days together. You will be so missed and you are so loved.

Lynne/Mom/Grammy,
I cannot possibly put all the ways you've changed my life into words. You were my mother, my friend, a grandmother to my children, the best lifelong companion for my dad, and a trusted confidant. You taught me to treat all people with kindness, respect and equality. When you and dad married, I don't know what I was expecting, but I wasn't expecting for you to welcome me and Cynthia as one of your own, but you did. When my kids were born, you welcomed them with the same unconditional love you gave us. You taught me that love makes a family. You gave me the gift of 2 more sisters. You were the glue that held us all together, and we will now carry on together in your memory. I will miss our daily Words With Friends games and our "secret" politics chats.
My favorite Beatles quote personifies you: "The love you take is equal to the love you make."
You are loved and you loved.
Thank you for EVERYTHING.
