Obituary

Our family lost a beloved father, grandfather and brother on September 18, 2022. James (Jim) Christy was a lucky man because he was able to have two great loves and two families he loved dearly. Unfortunately both his wives passed away way before their times. His first wife Arline (Lee) left him with three children and three grandchildren. His daughter Felicia Reed and her husband Robert Reed and their daughter Christina. His son Michael Christy and his wife Lisa Christy and their children Jake and Hannah. His youngest daughter Heather Jo Christy. His second wife Lynda Karpel-Christy left him with two stepsons and three grandchildren. His son Adam Karpel and his wife Michele and their children Stuart and Madelyn. His son Glen Karpel and his wife Dana and their daughter Krosby. He also left behind a dear brother Michael Rath and his partner Paul and several nieces and nephews. He was a man who loved the outdoors and the water. If he wasn’t in the garden he was out on his boat or by the beach. He believed in the strength of women and taught his daughters and granddaughters to be independent and never give up when life knocks you down. He gave back to the community in his earlier years by volunteering with the Islip Terrace Fire Department and in his later years with his work in the local food banks. He loved people and animals and would go out of his way to help both. And he will forever live on in our hearts.
