Obituary

Karen Anne Squitire née Bahnken, 64, of West Islip and formerly of North Bellmore, has lost her battle with breast cancer this Tuesday, July 26th, 2022. She was a beloved mother, wife, sister, aunt, and cousin. She graduated from Nassau Community College with an Associates in Computer Science and worked at Estée Lauder for 30 years as a systems analyst. She was an alum of Queen of the Rosary Academy, and a member of Our Lady of Lourdes parish. She was a lover of reading, broadway shows, old Hollywood musicals, and the general pursuit of knowledge. She never stopped learning until the very end. She is survived by her 3 living siblings: Monica (Mark) Holly, James (Eileen) Bahnken, and Patricia (Paul) McGeean. She joins in the kingdom of God her parents, Gerard and Anne Bahnken née Brady, and her 3 siblings, Mary Anne, John, and Gerard Bahnken. She also leaves behind her heart and soul: her husband and veteran of the US Navy, Fredi B Squitire, and her three children, Kerianne (Brian) Aronson, Laura Squitire, and Bridge Squitire. Her mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes on Friday, July 29th, at 10:30am, followed by her burial at Calverton National Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family at The Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons Funeral Home, 200 East Main Street, East Islip on Wednesday, July 26th from 5:00 pm until 9pm, and Thursday, July 27th from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm until 9:30 pm. www.chapeyfamily.com
