Murray Family posted a condolence
Friday, May 13, 2022
“Artie” was known to our family through our local Catholic Church. He visited my father, brought communion to him, even brought him some rye bread from his shopping run pickups. Our condolences to all. Unfortunately didn’t make it to services, but stopped at cemetary to say a prayer for him. May he SIP.

I remember when I was 16 years old working at the Chevron gas station on River Road when Uncle Arthur pulled in, in his Cadillac. We went to pick up hoagie's for everyone for lunch. I just finished smoking a cigarette in the bathroom. When I got in the car Uncle Arthur tells me that I shouldn't be smoking & that it's bad for my health. I told him that I want to quit but I can't. Uncle Arthur looked at me and asked, "do the cigarettes own you or do you own the cigarettes?" That pivotal moment still resonates with me to this day. Whenever I'm challenged, I think of that day and those profound words that inspired me in so many ways 46 years ago. Throughout my life in my military & civilian careers, as a mother, friend, neighbor, social groups & clubs I've shared thar story that with so many people inspiring them as Uncle Arthur inspired me that day.
**********************
I also want to say that Uncle Arthur inspired me in so many other ways. Though Uncle Arthur was in the Army, Uncle Arthur inspired me to join the military once I graduated. I joined the Navy, met my husband Steve, retired and went on to work as a civilian retiring a second time.
************************
I owe so much to Uncle Arthur for always picking up the phone and talking with me as a struggling teenager giving me sound advice which guided me throughout my life.
****************
Uncle Arthur loved being a Catholic and was very involved in his parish. Uncle Arthur always guided me with that moral compass of God and how crucial it is to go to mass weekly, pray daily and keep my focus on God. Uncle Arthur told me that our goal in life is to go to heaven, to live our lives that pleases God. Today, I'm very involved in my parish and engaged in my Catholic faith. My husband converted to Catholicism and my two sons attend mass weekly with their families.
*********************
THANK YOU Uncle Arthur for being that beacon in my life that has guided and encouraged me in such a positive and loving way. I pray that I've encouraged and inspired people as you did for me. You were such a blessing to me in my life and I will miss you but will never forget you. I know that you are in heaven with Aunt Virginia, Grandma & Grandpa and many others who have gone before you. May God bless you as He welcomes you into heaven and may God comfort your children, grandchildren & extended family and friends. THANK YOU & I LOVE YOU!

Beautifully said Brenda & so true cuz! He was a very kind man, who loved helping others, especially family. He also had a strong belief in God & his Catholic faith & believed that with God in your heart all good things are possible. He like my dad, Uncle Vito, also believed in Padre Pio’s quote, “Pray, hope, and don't worry. Worry is useless. God is merciful and will hear your prayer.” We’ve been blessed with good family who have showed us how to live, laugh & love each other! May he RIP! ➕
