With a heavy heart we announce the passing of Joseph J. Thaler. 86 of East Islip on April 10, 2022 after a valiant and hard fight. Joseph was born March 31, 1936 in the Bronx, New York. Joseph attended Columbia University where he earned a degree of doctor of dental surgery. He also served in the United States Air Force. Joseph lived in New York City where he met and married Donna. They settled in East Islip where they raised their family. Joseph practiced dentistry in Copiague New York. Joseph was an avid reader of all things non-fiction but a particular love of history. He also enjoyed the New York Times C\crossword puzzle. Joseph had a love of learning. Joseph is survived by his children Susan and Elizabeth. He was a devoted and loving grandfather to his grandchildren Sara, Mannix, Timothy and Amanda. He was preceded in death by his sister Barbara Thaler. It is with sadness we also remember Donna Thaler. 78 of East Islip who passed on June 26, 2021. Donna was born April 29, 1943 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. She attended Geisinger School of Nursing in Danbury, PA after which she moved to New York City to work where she met and married Joseph. Joseph and Donna were married for 53 years. They loved Long Island and the beauty that surrounded them. They were avid gardeners and fierce tennis players. They will be greatly missed by all who know them. Their memories will live on forever in our hearts. May they rest in peace together, as they were meant to be. We love you!
