Obituary
Robert W. “Bob” Remy passed away on March 03, 2022 due to complications from dementia. Born in West Islip, he lived most of his 83 years on Long Island where he married his wife Dorothy and raised two sons in Babylon. A lengthy career as a tool and die manufacturer led to a happy, active retirement. Known equally for his kindness and sense of humor, he enjoyed performing charity work, golf, and fishing. An active member of Saint Joseph’s parish in Babylon, he was a member of many charitable groups including the Knights of Columbus, his parish outreach program, the local food pantry, and the Saint Vincent De Paul Society. In 2012 he and wife Dorothy were recognized with the Saint Agnes Medal of Service for the diocese of Rockville Centre for their exceptional volunteer work. Bob was pre-deceased by Dorothy in 2019 and is survived by sons John and Robert M., their respective wives Carolyn and Judy, and granddaughter Shannon.
Visitation will be held 11:30-12:30 PM on Friday, March 25th at Chapey Funeral Home, 1225 Montauk Highway, West Islip, NY 11795, followed by prayer and burial at Saint Joseph Parish Cemetery, Livingston Ave, Babylon, NY.

Mr. Remy, as he introduced himself in his garage workshop around 1975, was a friend to those who needed a friend and a enemy to those who made him one. Not long after that, asked if I could refer to him as The Green Hornet, Mr. Remy offered a suggestion, which puzzled me at the time but has since proven to be profound: "You can call me anything but late to dinner."
Mr. and Mrs. Remy raised two fine sons in their cozy bayside nest, and the two were a model of goofy happiness for decades. Mr. Remy's namesake, Bobbo, has been a lifelong friend and always there when I needed him most.
In a book I'm reading right now, the author suggests our names mean very little and would be more apt if they reflected our deeds. I will miss the Green Hornet; his sense of goofy fun will prosper.
With love,
Alison, Madigan and Brian Reilly

Bob Remy first helped us out when I came to visit Dorothy with three small children in tow many decades ago. I could not find the Southern State Parkway on my way home and Bob led me in his car to the right location, this after coming home from a days' work. From there he, Dorothy, my husband Ross and I became good friends, playing golf (they taught us how!) and going with us on our trip to Alaska. We stayed in touch and got together for many years until Bob moved off Long Island.
We have many photos of the four of us together but they were taken before the digital age.
We join you in mourning your loss and keep you in our prayers as we know how much prayer was important to Dorothy and Bob.
Love,
Marie B.

Loss is always difficult to accept but I think that your dad was ready to join your mom and his wife to celebrate their anniversary together, even if it is a little late. I know they are both delighted.
Bob was such a nice fella and we had some good laughs when they came to visit and when we visited them, they were so very hospitable. I know my Godmother, your grandma Malek, just loved "Dr. Bob" because he took such good care of her wounds and helping her in so many ways.
May your lives continue in healthy and loving ways and may God bless you as you mourn the passing of your dad, father-in-law and grandfather.
