Obituary
Katherine M. “Ducky” Judge passed away on January 28, 2022, at the Bay Shore, NY home built by her husband, and in which they raised their six children.
She was born Katherine Marguerite Ehrle on April 29, 1930, in Rockville Centre, NY, and lived her entire life in Bay Shore. As a teenager she worked at her father’s gas station when her brothers were called to fight in World War II. She graduated from Bay Shore High School in 1948.
On a trip to Florida, she met John Richard Judge of Fulton, Maryland. They married in 1951, and he remained the love of her life until his death in 1982.
Ducky was a devoted mother, a wonderful cook, and a caring friend. Her sense of humor kept her home filled with laughter. Along with her husband, she volunteered with the Bay Shore-Brightwaters Rescue Ambulance, working as a dispatcher in the 1960s. She later worked as a teacher’s aide in the Bay Shore Public Schools and as transportation supervisor for Catholic Charities, where she was much beloved. Throughout her life she remained a loving and supportive advisor and inspiration to her children, her grandchildren and her extended family.
She is survived by her sons, Kevin, Robert, David and Steven, and her daughter Debra; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She is predeceased by her husband; her son John Judge Jr.; and her granddaughter, Abigail Katherine Judge.
