Well, it was myself and Pat Misciagna when Fr. George told my mother in the auditorium one day , "I'm just going have these two help me transplant three bushes: well that was just the start of many a project, including Saturdays mowing the rectory lawn, helping to build the shed, going to DC for the Montfort house renovation, driving us to Litchfield for an afternoon just to harvest pachysandra to bring back to the rectory yard, etc, etc. Pat and I used to always say to Fr. George as we sweated in the hot sun doing our gardening: "just three bushes." But he, along with my parents, taught me how plain hard work could be joyful.
Those of us at Gate of Heaven were given the gift of Fr. George. Whether he was celebrating a sacrament with you (he came all the way to Florida to marry Denise and I)
or working out on the grounds with you, he was a priest like no other. We were blessed to have him within our midst.

In September of 1969 Fr. George pulled three guys from the last period of classes on a Friday afternoon, he explain to each of us , Mike Squillante, Mick Troll and myself that he was an old friend of our parents and that he needed our help doing some work around the parish. What followed were several years of Set ups and cleanups of Bingo, Dances and Parties as well as enough painting to last a lifetime. There were also visits to the City, Movies ,Lots of Pizza and being taught and mentored by a man we all grew to love as a second Father.George was forever part of our families in every way that a Priest would be, and also in the way of a family member. When the horrible stories of the abuse of children came out in the 90's I could only thank our Father in Heaven for sending George and the rest of the Monforts who, like George, have become like family. I can not imagine life without him and all of these other wonderful men. After having been away from George for far too many years I was able to reconnect a couple of years back, as we were parting I told him that I loved him and his reply was typical of George " Hey back at ya Bib". I will always remember that,God Bless you George.
