Obituary
Louis F. Biundo, born December 29, 1937, was called home on December 14. He was the loving husband of Mary Anne “Cookie” Biundo for the past 59 years.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., Louis met Cookie while he was studying to be a pharmacist at Brooklyn College of Pharmacy and working at The Greenvale Pharmacy. They fell in love and married on August 25, 1962 at St. Mary’s Church in Roslyn, and raised their four children in Glen Head, N.Y. In 1984 Louis became a Licensed NYS Funeral Director. It was a career that he loved because he was able to help so many families in their time of grief. One of the hardest days for him was this past year when he formally retired as a Funeral Director.
Louis embodied the idea of a life well-lived. He loved to cook and bake. He enjoyed traveling, especially to Italy, and boating. But what he loved most in this life was his family and friends – he cherished every moment he spent with them and was known by all for his kind, compassionate spirit.
He was active in a number of community organizations across Long Island. He was the Past President of the John Michael Marino Lodge #1389; Order of Son’s & Daughter’s of Italy in America; Chairman of the annual Grande Festa Italiana in Port Washington, N.Y. for several years; and he held multiple positions on the OSDIA Grand Lodge of New York Executive Council, having served as State Trustee District II, State Principal Trustee, and State Treasurer. He was also a Fourth Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus John W. Mackay Council in Roslyn Heights, N.Y.
.
Louis enhanced the lives of so many people around him. He was a loyal husband, a supportive father, a respected grandfather and cherished great grandfather. He was a son, a brother, an uncle, a cousin, a friend, a leader in the community, and he will be missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mario and Marianna; and his grandson, Dean Wierzbicki. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Marc, Marianna and Dean Wierzbicki, John, Joe and Lorraine Biundo; his grandchildren, Jake Wierzbicki, Ashley Ford, Megan and Cody Norman and his great grandchildren, Sylas Wierzbicki, Sadie and Gavin Norman; by his twin sister, Marie; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be sent in Memory of Louis to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
