JUST TODAY
Just today I heard the news.
The old man of 95 is gone.
He's been gone over a year now,
But I only learned of it today.
He was my high school sweetheart's dad
And though my high school honey and I parted ways years ago
I'd still drop by to see his mom and dad.
Maybe they thought I was nuts,
But the rare times I'd visit the hometown
I would visit with them too.
When his mom past on
I'd still make the trip to see his dad.
Always friendly, always welcoming
A generous heart that knew no bounds.
I could write all day,
But the depth of him is unreachable.
Tears shed are for the sadness that I will not see him again.
More than that, the tears reflect gladness
That I had met such a man.
Such a good man.

I have always been grateful for having known your family. Your dad let me know how you and Karen and your daughter were doing. He was proud of all of you. Both of your parents were wonderful people. I loved them both. Years after your mother had died I brazenly asked your dad why he had never remarried.. He said he had had the best and noone else could compare.
I hope this finds you and yours well. Jenny

Words can’t express what I feel in losing my dear friend Howard. We shared happy times and sad times. It was comforting to know that he was always there when I needed someone to talk to (also his wife Florence)
They both were very special people. He will be missed beyond words. Rest In Peace dear friend.

We are mourning and celebrating the time we shared together. Your life was a gift to the world.
We will always remember the sparkle of your eyes, the brightness of your smile, the goodness of your soul and let’s not forget your amazing stories. You will always stay in our hearts because you were one gem of a person we had. Losing you is no doubt a big loss to all of us. You will always be missed.
Love always,
Elizabeth and Scott
