Rita Sharon Prior (Dreyhaupt) passed away November 1, 2021, at age 71, of complications from Alzheimer's disease. She will be remembered as she was before the disease took her, as someone who enjoyed the company of her family and friends. Especially her grandchildren, who brought her much joy in her later years.

She is also survived by her brother Kenneth Dreyhaupt and his wife Eleanor and her sister, Ellen Dreyhaupt. She joins her parents, Kenneth and Lucy Dreyhaupt; her nephew, Geoffrey Dreyhaupt; and her brother-in-law, John Prior.
Rita was born in Jamaica, Queens, in 1950. She attended St. Rita's Elementary School and Mater Christi High School, later attending Katharine Gibbs School and Queensborough Community College. Please accept my condolences. I am so sorry to hear of Rita's passing and the suffering she must have gone through. I worked with Rita for many years at Parsons. She was an amazing person to work with and to have as a friend. We were in touch for a while after Parsons closed. I am sorry I didn't keep in better touch. We used to go out to dinner with our retired principal and just laugh and laugh. Rest in Peace Rita.
PS I'm so sorry that I cannot make the wake. Thursday is the only night I can visit my mother in her nursing home. It's by appointment only and Thursday is the only day they have night time hourrs.

Sincere condolences to the family. Rita will be missed by many but she is now free of the dementia and its struggles she has lived with these past several years. May this and the peace of God comfort you and bring you his peace. Love, Mary Whittemore
