I have such wonderfully fond memories of Mr Gibney… how he would jokingly ruffle his hair, and say “what can you do with this?“ The epitome of “dad jokes” dad. I was fascinated by his train set in the basement and the smell of his pipe. He always made me feel so welcome… but don’t touch the train set, Ali!
Rest in paradise Mr. Gibney

I’m so very sorry for your loss. Mr Gibney was so much fun. Growing up down the street from you guys were the best years any child could ask for. If it wasn’t watching from the window the planning of various war battles in the basement or hunting neighborhood rabbits. He always made us laugh. So gooofy. He could contort his face into any and all new ways to match whatever cartoon we were watching. Love you all! John and Carey Ratcliff

I’m not typically at a loss for words, but I am just having a difficult time putting my thoughts together. In high school I went through a very difficult time with my own father. The Gibneys invited me to stay with them. They cared for me as if I were their own. Mr Gibney was so completely different from my own father, who was loving but very strict. I was so blessed to witness a different kind of love and support and compassion. He managed to be stern with his children without making them feel afraid. To say his kindness, generosity & love impacted me deeply is an understatement. I wish I could be there to hug mom and my “sisters” and hold your hands through all of this . My heart and my prayers are with you all.

My sympathies and prayers to Bea and her daughters at this time. I will miss my old friend - a man large in many ways that has been
a friend since high school many years ago. We went to high school together, we worked summer jobs together, we even tried running a restaurant together -- too many memories, many, many good times. We sort of lost touch after I moved to California, then re-connected at our 50th (!) high school reunion, and any time I was back on Long Island, we visited and laughed and told stories as if no time has passed - not to mention his sending me uncountable bad pun e-mails. Farewell my friend, may God keep you.

I remember you well Bob, my brother-in-law. I remember your devotion to your family; its comfort in your protective hands. I remember your loud laughter, your jokes, the warm and wonderful meals prepared in your kitchen. I remember your generous holiday invitations. I remember your pride in family and home. I marvel still at your talents, hobbies, and the showcase you built in your backyard. You were a grand success, and your life was a model of loving commitment and kindness. I enjoyed your big personality and experiencing you. Thanks for all of it. Rest peacefully.

Rest in Peace, Mr. Gibney. You were like a Dad to me too. He was a kind, caring man. The photo is from 35 or so years ago.... I "Borrowed" one of his hats! He didn't mind and I wore it for a long time. I found it endearing that he called Kirsten "Pooh" or 'Pooh-Bear" and kind of adapted that into our friendship...sort of. LOL! Wishing the Family Peace in their time of sorrow. *hugs and Love to you all.
