Dodd—Christina (nee McGrath), 98, of Coronado, CA and long-time resident of West Islip, NY passed away on September 10, 2021 after an extended illness. Born in County Roscommon, Ireland, she immigrated to NY with her husband in 1952. Christina was a woman blessed with life’s greatest riches: strong faith, large close family, and an extensive network of friends and neighbors. She participated actively in school and parish life at St. Joseph’s Church in Babylon for 35 years. She enjoyed playing bridge and bingo, afternoon teas with friends, volunteer work, and engaging with her grandchildren in later years. Christina was an excellent baker, and many friends and family enjoyed her award winning Irish soda bread. She continued to get requests (which she welcomed and honored) for her bread making, even into her 90’s. She exhibited an adventurous spirit in her golden years, travileling with family to Ireland, and even went on a safari to South Africa for her 87th birthday. She became tech savvy later in life and was the iPad and Netflix wizard in her senior community.
.
Christina dedicated her life to her family. She raised her family in New York, and had many years of happiness with her husband and family on Long Island She lived with the family of her daughter, Monica, in Denver for 10 years before moving to the San Diego area, where she resided for the past 5 years. Christina was a popular resident at Good Samaritan Retirement Center, El Cajon and was active on the Resident's Council there. She took pride and joy in the activities and accomplishments of her children and grandchildren in her final years. She moved to Coronado at the end of her life where she enjoyed the fresh air and ocean views before passing peacefully to be with the Lord. Rest in Peace/ Scíth a ligean and may God hold her in the palm of his hand.
