Obituary
Erik Peter Schreiber, 37, of Islip, NY returned home to our Heavenly Father on June 15, 2021. Born on May 5, 1984 to loving parents Denise and Robert Schreiber, he instantly filled their lives with love and joy.
He grew up in Islip, NY and continued to live on Long Island his entire life. He was a devout Catholic with a genuine care for all those he met. Erik held office in the Knights of Columbus as a prestigious Fourth Degree Knight. He loved working with numbers which led him to a career in finance and project management.
Erik will always be remembered for his warm smile, sense of humor, teddy bear hugs, and kind ways. He always knew what to say or do, whether he was making you laugh, comforting you or just sitting by your side. He loved so deeply and brought out the best in everyone.
To know Erik is to know love. At an early age, he knew just how precious life is and it showed in every moment he spent with his parents, brother, family, and many friends.
Erik was a beloved son to Denise and Robert and cherished brother to Brian; adored grandson to the late Hilda and Peter Chiaffitelli, Robert and Betsy Schreiber; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. His sudden passing leaves us deeply saddened, but his love will live in our hearts forever.
A visitation will be held at Chapey Funeral Home, 200 East Main Street, East Islip, NY 11730 on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 from 3-5 pm and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Catholic Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s R.C. Church, East Islip, NY on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at 10:45 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent in Erik’s memory to AmericanHumane.org.

Erik was one of the kindest and most sincere people that you could ever meet. I had the pleasure of working with Erik every day, but also was lucky enough to call Erik my friend. I say lucky because it was truly a blessing to have him as a friend to just sit around and talk with, laugh with, and share common likes and stories with. You will forever be missed Erik and never be forgotten. You certainly left me a better person than before we met, so for that I thank you and I pray that you are in peace. Love you buddy. God Bless.

Denise, Bob, Brian; Janet, Andrea, Anthony and boys- please know you are in our prayers, always.
Dear, sweet Erik - gone too soon, but always here in our hearts.
I remember when you were born - and could feel the pride and happiness beaming from your Aunt Janet, from that day forward. You were such an adorable, happy boy and young man, who brought smiles to everyone around you. Heaven has received another angel, and I know your grandparents are with you now, holding you close.
Rest in peace.

Dear Denise, Bob, and Brian...Our loving sympathies go out to. you with Erik's shocking and sudden passing. A light went out in the world upon hearing this sad news. He was a true gentleman and the perfect best man at Bob's wedding - his sense of humor was infectious and we can only imagine him making the angels laugh. Erik's life has not ended but is only changed as he now lives in paradise. We pray your Faith will bring you comfort in that the pain will lessen in time but his memory will grow more vivid as you take it one day at a time. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him...Sending our love and prayers.... The Martins

My deepest condolences to the Schreiber family. Erik had a positive influence on so many of the lives he touched. Simply being in the same room as him would raise your spirits. I'm thankful for all of the memories, from the side-splitting laughter to the serious conversations. You could not ask for a better friend. He will be remembered by those who loved him not only in the great memories we have of him, but through us in the ways he has influenced and changed us for the better. God Bless.

Erik was and will always be my first friend. We met in Pre-K and quickly bonded over Ninja Turtles. Neighbors, separated by a highway, Erik’s and my friendship extended from Saint Mary’s, Cub Scouts, Islip High School, Manhattan College and into Adulthood. Memories of Erik are forever with us, in our hearts and can bring a smile to your face during even the most difficult of times. I cherish our time together and will hold close these memories of a great man.
