I only found out that George passed. I met George in 1966 when I was transferred to the MHT branch on 34tth. Street and 3rd Ave in Manhattan as a teller. . He was the Chief Clerk. George was a fun guy. During a Transit strike he picked me and someone else up on queens blvd in his corvair convertible and drove us to Manhattan. I was drafted in 1967 and when discharged in 1969 I visited George in the Empire State Branch.. I asked for advice and he felt it would be smart to go back to MHT because they had to hold your job.Bottom line I listened and worked through all the bank mergers and retired as a Senior Vice President. Thanks to George’s advice.

Dear Linda, I wanted to mail you a note, but couldn't find your address. As you might remember, I was an old friend of George's since when he worked at Manufacturers Hanover's Empire State Office where my uncle Jack Cunningham was the VP in charge Our relationship continued when he worked with the Correspondent Banking Group. I was active in all the associations and headed First National Bank of Long Island. He was my good friend and I cherished our relationship very much, even if he wouldn't give me a putt. He was a delightful, fine person and I was so sorry to see his Obituary in Newsday. My wife, Gail, also knew George well and she joins me in sending our very best wishes to you and your family.
