Obituary
Treubig – Fred, of Farmingdale, NY, passed away on April 5, 2021. Husband of Joan, father of Tom (Joan), John (Marie) and Carol and grandfather of Chris, Katherine, Steph and Jennifer. Fred was a Korean War Veteran who proudly served on the U.S.S. Randolph and later worked for Grumman for 30+ years. An avid camper, he enjoyed vacations at many upstate N.Y. campgrounds and later enjoyed boating Long Island waters. He was involved in Boy Scouts, first as a parent and then as a Scoutmaster of Troop 434, where he helped mentor many young men. In retirement, he volunteered as a docent at the Cradle of Aviation Museum in Garden City. He will be deeply missed by family and friends for his support and encouragement. Visitation will be held at the Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons Bethpage Funeral Home on Sunday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment will be at Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, NY.

My deepest sympathies go out to all of Fred's friends and family. Fred was a staple at the Cradle of Aviation Museum for a long time, even helping to create the docent council when the museum just started. I had worked with Fred for many years in the education department where he volunteered his time helping to teach the public about aerospace. He loved to share his experience and knowledge, and the visitors appreciated all he imparted..... and so did the museum. Forever in our memories; rest in peace.
