Obituary
James Francis Murphy was born on July 17, 1932. He was the second oldest of 11 children. He married the love of his life Dorothy (nee Walker) Murphy on February 27, 1960. They lived a beautiful life together with their 8 children: James (Patricia) Murphy, Robert (Sharon) Murphy Dorothy (Thomas Gaffney, Mary (Kevin) Cleary, Anne-Marie Murphy Ponzio, William (Wendy)Murphy, Rosemary (John) Callahan and Kathleen (Robert) Maguire. Together they have 25 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren with 1 on the way. James is leaving behind a great legacy and was a hard working man who would do anything for his wife, Dorothy, an their family. He proudly served in the United States Navy for 4 years. He is a retired police officer for the NYPD and went to work in private business.
James, or "Jimmy" as his wife and children called him, was a man who would help anyone. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. In any situation, he would always support and root for the underdog. He made everyone feel as though they were special to him, although the way he did it may sometimes have been unconventional, using a silly comment or two. He wasn't a man who smiled often but when he did, his blue eyes would light up and his face would brighten the room. Jimmy loved his wife fiercely. Dorothy was his "one and only".
Jimmy felt actions spoke louder than words and wasn't one to share his emotions openly, but when he did you knew it came from his heart!! No one can deny that Jimmy's actions have spoken louder than any words could ever say as demonstrated through his extraordinary life that he led as a husband and role model for all!! James Francis Murphy " The man, the myth, the legend" will be greatly missed by all who loved him!
