Obituary

John Esposito of West Islip, NY died peacefully on December 1, 2020 at the age of 91. He was born on March 15, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois. He married Jean Haas on November 11, 1950 and together they moved from Brooklyn to West Islip in 1963 to raise their two children. He was married to Jean for 64 years until her death in 2014. He is survived by his two children James Esposito (Lori) of Montauk, NY and Donna LaBanca (Matty) of West Islip, NY, five grandchildren- Julia, John, Cody, Ted, and Jimmy, and three great grandchildren. John was a veteran of the United States Army and a NYC Lieutenant Firefighter for 20 years. He loved to cook and never hesitated to offer a snack or meal to anyone who stopped over. He loved playing cards, going to Las Vegas, smoking cigars (back in the day) and working in his garden . Loved and respected by his family and friends he was known for his quiet gentle ways and for being a kind and generous person. After Jean's death John remained at his home in West Islip for the next six years under the loving care of his daughter Donna and her husband Matty Labanca. He was predeceased by his parents Giacamo and Pasqualina Esposito and his siblings Theresa Fleck and Nunzio Esposito. In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to the Michael J.
