Dawn carried a natural way to inspire others, with a touch of elegance. It shined thought her smile, her distinctive voice and lovely laugh. Every Christmas season since 1998, I hang a lovely gift Dawn had specially designed. It is a hand-blown glass globe ornament, hand painted in pinks, greens, gold, pastels. A graceful angel with long blond locks is flying with a ribbon that reads "Extraordinares" .... A gift from Team Extraordinares / Dawn, Bob, Helaine, Dr. Julie and Deborah / Landmark Education IFLP 1998 Mid December 2020, I will post a photo of the ornament on Facebook to share a bit of Dawn's permanent commitment to a world of Possibility. I believe that Dawn now has a chance to catch-up with her dear friend, Bob, who departed in 2010 of the same diagnosis My heartfelt condolences to her sisters, family and crowds of friends who loved her. Kevin sends his sympathy and love to all, along with me. Pamela J. Sandmeier pamela1s@soundbeachlaw.com

Always a great friend that the memories I have of Dawn I will forever cherish. I am at a loss for words that an angel was taken so soon from us. Nothing will take her place in my heart but knowing I will see her again will add a little comfort.
Love Always,

I was fortunate to meet Dawn recently as she agreed to let me photograph her during her stay at The Hospice Inn. She shared with me her thoughts on her life and perspective on dying. I was in awe of her strength, inner grace, and candor. Dawn told me she was grateful for what she learned in about herself and life in the past few weeks. “I know it’s a cliche but I really feel I understand so much about how to live well and I am grateful”. My deepest condolences to her friends and family. - Karen Cunningham

My most sincere condolences to Dawn's family. Dawn and I worked together and became friends. I always enjoyed our conversations. We talked about many things and always enjoyed alot of laughs. Dawn always had a warm smile and a great laugh. Dawn will always be in my heart and always be remembered for her courage and strength. A wonderful memory was the celebration of her 59th birthday. We ate, laughed and danced with many of her friends. She had the best time! Dawn, you are always in my heart. Lisa

+ 1
Dawn and I became quick friends just a year ago. We shared many similar interests and she taught me all about organic gardening. She was quick to make a face when I went ahead of her instructions only to have to back up and do it “ Dawn Right”. She usually was. God had a plan for us in this year. It was privilege and pleasure, yes I said pleasure, to go through her last year here with her... I learned about grace, tenacity, friendship, family, being ok as an older single woman, accepting complements, letting one in emotionally and a strong devotion to God.... I will miss praying and playing with you my friend and sister in Christ.

My dearest Dawn,
You shall be sorely missed. My heart goes out to you for the pain that you have suffered.
You have been a wonderful friend to my family. My parents loved you immensely. I shall always remember the first time we met. You had long bouncy hair and a smart jean outfit that set off your beautiful face. Most of all, I remember your vivacious laugh and huge, dynamic smile. You most impressed my parents and me with your warmth and immediate desire to become part of our family group. Your conversations with my dad and your love of my mom’s food, particularly her black beans, I shall always hold dear to my heart.
Throughout our many years together you held fast as a friend. Sleep well, my sweet friend. I shall think of you often and with much love.

I don’t know if you can see what it says on this shirt Dawn once gave me. It says “Live Out Loud - and the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was mor painful than the risk it took to blossom”
Expressed Dawn’s way of living, and I always thought of her when I wore it. One inspiring woman.

I met Dawn 36 years ago. We were both so single and friendly. We became friends instantly and like all of us who knew her, there was rarely a dull minute! I moved along the way, later returned to NY 20 years ago, and it took me 3 years until joining Facebook that I was able to reconnect with her. Once we did, we carried on like there were no years in between. As each of us has had so many adventures with her as well, I will miss such a special and caring person. Love you Dawnie.

When I met Dawn, at age 19, she was young, beautiful and fun to be around. She also had a sweet southern drawl. Dawn was always laughing and always had a fun story or tid-bit to tell you about. Charming. Intelligent. Feisty. Strong. Loving. Wonderful. But, Dawn hated early mornings. As she said on many early morning road and camping trips, “I hate the sun in the morning!” At sixty Dawn was still beautiful and fun to be around. I could easily chat on the phone with her for an hour or more. For some reason we had lots to say. We laughed our way through all the conversations.
Dawn loved to cook and eat wonderful food. I remember one night at Greg Rillings’ place where he and Dawn decided to cook Coco Van for all of us. They started quite early and didn’t finish cooking until about 10:30 or so at night. It might have been later than that. To kill time, while the “chefs” cooked, we drank. By the time dinner was done so were we. I don’t think any of us remember what it all tasted like. We just remember laughing a lot and teasing the cooks about their task.
We, our group of friends, traveled down south or went north and camped, canoed down the Delaware, floated down the French Broad (river -LOL) in a giant truck inner tube called the yacht, walked the beaches on the Island, went to NYC to see shows, do dinners, watch the sun set from the top of the World Trade Center and then drive to Mattituck to build bon fires and watch the Perseid meteor shower while drinking Champagne. They were annual events. Dawn’s unique laugh and giggle was always intermingled in all the sounds of our events.
Dawn’s tenacity, strength and amazing spirit served her well in her battle with breast cancer. I shall always remember our talks, her warmth, her great smile and laugh, and the great hugs she gave. I will miss her greatly.
