I am heartbroken to recently hear of the passing of Mayor Scordino. He was a gentleman in the truest sense. He gave someone be barely knew an audience at perhaps one of the most difficult times in my life. I was recently engaged and lost my job and he was there to listen to me and to help me pick up the pieces. His daughter Dina walks in with her daughters/ his grandchildren and to make a long story short- she became my boss at Federation. Although, I didn’t work there long due to other opportunities, I never forgot Dina for giving me the opportunity to work along side her and my colleagues- and most important- I never, ever, forgot Mayor Scordino for showing me the compassion that I needed at that very difficult moment in time. Time has passed and I would visit Mayor Scordino occasionally at his office and thank him for his time. I would also give him updates on how things were going in my life. He was always available to me and was always genuine. I last met with Mayor Scordino this past May or June I believe and I told him that my goal was to move back to Babylon Village someday. I was simply hoping to one day share the good news with him because I always knew that he would always be happy for people’s successes. That was the type of leader he was. Sadly that won’t happen. But I’m hopeful that one day he’ll learn how much of a difference he’s made in my life. Rest easy Mayor Scordino.

Linda and Family,
It was with great sadness June and I heard about Ralph. I have such fond memories of my time in Babylon and the years coaching with Ralph. I always kept track of Ralph's success as Babylon's mayor. It was very obvious from my days with him in Babylon and from all I read about his time as Mayor that Ralph loved the school and Village of Babylon. He bled Orange and Black.
Our hearts go out to you, your kids, and grandkids. Knowing Ralph, he's up there now taking charge of things --- putting his heart into everything he does just as he did here with us. I'm glad that I had the opportunity to share a part of my life with this really good man.

My deepest condolences to his wife Linda who loved her husband so deeply, and to their children and granddaughters. While I only met him on a few occasions, Mayor Scordino was such a pleasure to be around. I particularly enjoyed his stories of playing basketball in his youth. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

How many elementary school gym coaches leave a lasting impression on a kid that they're remembered 40 years later? Ralph Scordino was my gym coach at Westbrook Elementary school in the 70's in West Islip and I'll never forget him. We called him "Coach" and he was so awesome. I remember him driving what I think was an old Blazer to school and the kids thought he was the coolest. Fond memories for a kind man. May you rest in peace Coach.

There will only ever be one Ralph Scordino. A man of impeccable dignity with an easy laugh, a man of all too rare dignity while maintaining an openness that would set anyone at ease. But, for those of us who knew him as Director of the Ocean Beach Youth Group, only a small part of his expansive life, he was a leader, a coach, a mentor, a friend and advisor, and a man with a generous laugh in the hardest of times. For countless young adults he was their first boss, and he never took that job lightly. Those countless will measure many against him over the course of their lives, and he never forgot that for an instant. He took everything he did seriously.
We all lost a true and rare friend, and a friend he was to all of us even as he was a boss, or simple colleague, or mentor, or coach: his common theme was always friendship. We all lost a once in a lifetime friend.

Ocean Beach Youth Group will forever miss our beloved leader. We are broken-hearted but left wiser and kinder for his contributions for the past 22 years to our community. For many children, he was the comforting smile to start the day or for countless teens, he was their first boss. We will live by your words: If you had fun, you won. Thanks for keeping us happy and keeping us safe.

I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Scordino's passing. He was always such a dynamic person, and I looked forward to seeing him in school as my coach when I was younger. He was instrumental in forging my love of sports; jump rope for heart, basketball, and morning intramurals. He made this world a great place and really loved his community and all those in it. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. God's blessings for peace and comfort during this difficult time.

Our deepest sympathy to the Family & Staff of Mayor Scordino. It was an honor an pleasure to meet you several years ago during the devastation in Babylon Village after hurricane Sandy. Once again you came to our rescue during the COVID Pandemic when our roof needed to be replaced and your approval was required, along with opening up all of our villages small business and beautiful restaurants and parks. Our little hide away called "Babylon" will truly miss your smile and your kindness. Heaven has received another angel.
Life here will not be the same without you.
May you rest in peace. Until we meet again.

Linda, Dina and Paul,
So very sorry on the loss of your husband and father. I enjoyed our chats in the early morning when he would walk Lola, he was the best mayor and neighbor; he even helped me a few years back on a Saturday evening with a racoon issue and sent someone the following morning to make sure things were okay. The sky above has just gained another bright star. With sympathy and love, Debbie

The Village of Lindenhurst mourns the loss of a fellow Mayor, mentor and dear friend, Ralph Scordino. Mayor Scordino was a man who served the people of the Village of Babylon with distinction and honor and a breadth of knowledge of his Village’s history, second to none.
He was always there for me as an advisor and teacher and helped our Village move forward in many ways. We learned a lot from the Dean of the Suffolk County Village Officials. He was a close friend of our former Mayor Tom Brennan, who shares our sorrow as well.
Ralph was one of a kind and will be sorely missed. His sense of humor and infectious smile was always on display. The Village of Lindenhurst and its Administration will be there to support Mayor Mary Adams in any way she needs us. We all know that Ralph would not have wanted it any other way.
While we have lost a great man, his memory will be eternal. We continue to pray for his family and friends at this most difficult time.
With sadness and love,
Mayor Mike Lavorata, Village of Lindenhurst

Our hearts are broken but our resolve lives on to continue Ralph Scordino's work. I lost both of my parents suddenly. It is an unimaginable experience that compares to no other. Please accept our sincere condolences - we are just average Babylon Village residents who just thought the word of our Mayor. However, we also thought the word of his family - the sacrifices over a lifetime of public service. We thank you, his family and the loves of his life, for sharing him with us. We watched all of you at the Coffee with the Mayor sessions - we attended every one. Your loving eyes and support were what kept him going during some of the most intense meetings - he could always look around the room and see his wife, daughter and two granddaughters smiling at him. Please know our hearts are also aching with grief - and know - there was no place he would rather be than here with all of you, his family
