Dear Gerry and Family, We are grieved at the passing of Jo, but we are rejoicing that he is the most happy of us all at this moment. I met Jo and Gerry at Franklin Square OPC when Jo was an elder. I was there when he took a sabbatical and retired from active elder visitation. Gerry and Jo would come for evening worship instead, and I would love to talk to them about what I was doing and where I was going. Jo was such an encouragement to me during college and in my teaching career. When Jo and Gerry were in a car accident, my fiance and I visited while they were in rehab, then visited again at their house after we were married. It was Jo's birthday so we cooked a delicious steak and stayed all evening talking. Jo told me that I would make a fine wife, and to keep reading God's word and praying to Him. Jo and Gerry have influenced my life and my husband's life, and I wish Jo could have seen my baby girl Celeste born in May. One day, Jo, we shall all be together again. I and my family pray for Jo's family and Gerry that they would find comfort in the God that Jo loved and believed in. "Precious in the sight of the Lord are the death of his saints." When I think of and remember Uncle Joe, what first comes to my mind is his disarming smile and calm, soft voice...such a warm and gentle spirit. I'll treasure all the times and memories made with him and all of our family over the years. My heart goes out to all of you as you honor Uncle Joe's life and grieve his loss.
